It's really frustrating how slow this roll out is. I use TfL rail almost every day to/from LST and the difference between a 345 and 319 at peak time is astonishing in terms of how much more comfortable it is.

I wish they could introduce them a bit quicker, especially at peak times when they can be really cram loaded.

017 was out and about this morning as well. I was waiting for my train to Chelmsford around 0900 when 017 passed through platform 5 at Shenfield. I assumed it was going into the sidings, but when I passed through there on my train the sidings were empty. I know it didn't reverse back into Shenfield because I would have seen it. Anyone have any idea where it was heading?

Southend perhaps, via the flyunder?

Had a look at Taplow station today, a few things to note is the new ticket machine on Platform 4, it is branded TFL so you can now top up and pre pay with your oyster, it has a nice screensaver of the 345 artwork on it, also the signs to Platform 3 are now in the classic TFL johnson font, as well as TFL staff now working at the station. Unfortunately I couldn't grab a pic as my phone was out of charge :(

Just tried one from Stratford to Liv St. Very hard to fault for the job it will be doing, and superb build quality. I also like the subdued interior scheme.
That was my impression too, they feel like quality units. I can't wait to commute on the 720s.

I’m staying with family who live in Shenfield and we were taking about crossrail. I’ve read a lot about it and have kept up to date with all the news I can (more so than most local residents... I assume).

The TFL rail line between Brentwood and Shenfield was obviously closed for quite a long time. My relatives claim that the subsequent weekend / bank holiday closures have been because of “incorrect track... or something”.

Can anyone confirm that these subsequent works have just been crossrail related and are completely normal? Sounds like a NIMBY rumour that spreads round a small community.
Cheers

The engineering works this weekend I believe is so that the great eastern is connected to the cr tunnel plus further station improvement works.

When I was at Liverpool Street yesterday afternoon (getting caught off guard by a triple 357) I noticed a 345 stuck in one of the lower numbered platforms (think it was 015).

Bit off seeing one stabled in the station, but I guess there was no-where else to keep them during the block?

It’s a NIMBY rumour! The whole of the London End of Shenfield and half the Country End were completely remodelled with the new layout bearing little resemblance of what went before. Once the new formation had settled down after a few months it was all tamped again, normal practice.

This Christmas the major job is overhead line work across all lines at Ilford which is the lead reason why the line is shut. On the back of that there is also further overhead line work at Shenfield to remove a 50 mph speed restriction on the mains, ongoing remodelling at Gidea Park and a string of station works.

Lots of TfL Rail trains in Liverpool St over Christmas and the New Year. With Gidea Park yard closed there isn’t sufficient room at the Ilford Car Sheds Inn.

Come early in the new year a few more 345s should be out and about.

On saturday there was one in what i thought was p8? There's no way of putting them anywhere as ilford is shut, gidea park is also shut. Those platforms aren't needed so its a good idea. Was weird tho as the only national rail trains at stratford was c2c.

Seem to be some problems this morning, not sure whether a 345 or 315, lots of cancellations and delays of up to 45 mins. Something sat down near Bow Junction?

There was a 345 sat in Stratford with the doors closed for the entire duration I was there. Not sure if that was a symptom or the culprit. Either way, some pretty major disruption resulted, I seemed to get off quite lightly with a 9 minute delay.

It appears that 345002 has escaped from Crewe and was seen on Bescot by a friend this afternoon.

The 1710 from Liverpool St to Gidea Park yesterday was a 345, but I'm pretty sure it was a 315 the day before. Is this a new diagram?

The 1710 to Gidea Park is due to be a 345 so perhaps a 315 was standing in on Wednesday.

There my be a couple of extra 345s around from the end of this week though so diagrams may be changing.

So how many 345s diagrams will there be then? I've lost count. Also, how many of the 345 diagrams are all-day, rather than just peak only?
