Relatively recently, southeastern have changed the way they did announcements.

Before it was as follows:
Welcome aboard this southeastern service to X calling at {list of stations}
The next station is X
We will shortly be arriving at X

Now it is:
This is X. Welcome aboard this southeastern service to Y. The next station is Z.
This train calls at {list of stations}. The next station is Z. + Additional waffle on station connections.
We will shortly be arriving at Z.

Also rather weirdly, on the outside it displays Coach 3 of 0.

What do you think about this change?

I personally prefer the old way however the new way conveys more and better information.

I remember a few months ago it was unusual to find a 375 on the Charing x to Ramsgate service with functional pis. Maybe that was in preparation for this change.

I know personally the chap responsible for the changes.

The reason for the moving of the calling pattern is to avoid the circumstance of people missing the calling pattern when they’re boarding or waiting for others to alight.

The whole “Coach x of 0” thing is a shortcoming in the 375 software and will be removed when the database is next updated. They only know their formation based on what is in the individual PIS code (hence why in the past, there have been 8 of 7 on some splitting trains).

The lack of PIS post refurb isn’t related to these changes and is likely just a Bombardier related ‘hiccup’.

That might just be normal. The onboard pis is normally unreliable. When I went up to Waterloo. The pis was only working between Tunbridge Wells/ High Broooms and Tonbridge.

Even well before the train there is a good chance that it isn't working

really shouldnt announce the whole calling pattern especially if it is more than just a few stops. irritating. "The Next Station is" is good enough.

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
Whilst in Southeastern territory, I was on a 700 at Loughborough Junction a few days ago, and noticed that instead of:
This station is x
This train terminates at y
We will be calling at (list of stations)

Now it says
This station is x
This train terminates at y
The next station is z

Is this linked by any chance?

Surprised at people saying the 375 PIS was unreliable, seemed rock solid when introduced (unless a last minute change to the calling pattern was announced and it defaulted to 'listen for onboard announcements' or it thought it was coach 8 of 7).

They prattling on inbetween the Medway towns is pretty annoying though.

Southern seem to have a similar PIS now, it was broken at first... lots of repeated announcements but they seem to have fixed the issues.
This is X. This is the Southern Service to Y. This train calls at {list of stations}. The next station is Z..
Welcome aboard the Southern service to Y. The next station is Z.
We will shortly be arriving at Z.

When I last got a southern service the last one was:
This train is for X. We are now approaching Z.

Another question: are they keeping the announcements on board classes 376, 465 and 466 the same or are they going to change them as well?

They;re still a bit of a mix with certain PIS codes atm. Thats the older (better) style.
