The sale begins at 00:01 on 25 January and closes at 23:59 on Monday 29 January 2018.

Is this actually a sale? I thought their cheapest advance fares always started at £5. You can still get these fares after the 22nd Feb.Scotrail have a flash sale of evening Advances as follows:
Temple Meads,Is there anyone out there who would be kind enough to send me two Northern offer tokens? I can cover purchase of the papers and postage through PayPal.
Thanks

Yes; people who would have ended up paying more than £5 will still be able to get the cheapest fare.I agree. But for the journey I looked at, there seemed to be more available than usual, so perhaps that's what's meant by "a sale".
this offer is still giving 30% off all VTEC advances until the end February if it helps. Not looking like there'll be a VTEC January seat sale this year. I found the last few were rubbish but I'm sure others didn't. If nothing turns up late will this be the first time for a while that there has been no January sale?

I've just been made aware that tokens are being printed in various papers this week too. The Northern website has been updated, with "Week 3" added back in for Johnstone Press titles.Despite what is claimed at https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/newspaper-offer/341-participating-papers-johnston-press , there are NO TOKENS in the YEP - but there is an advert saying the tokens start next week.
Does anyone know if they appeared in the York Press? and if so, what dates?I've just been made aware that tokens are being printed in various papers this week too. The Northern website has been updated, with "Week 3" added back in for Johnstone Press titles.

I'm sure in the past the York Press has been included, but isn't listed on the website.
Failing that, if anyone else is able to assist, please PM me

Seems like it may be a promotion addressed to rare users to get new business.
I got the email to an address/account I haven't used for ages - set up when problems with my usual account.
No email received to my usual account; nor has a friend who buys most of his tickets through VTEC.
When I looked for sale tickets with the rarely used account, there were many sale tickets. When I used my normal account, there were no sale tickets - just normal fares.

Seems like it might be a good a idea to open a second email address/account and not use it except when you get a sale like this one which you get because you have an account that you don't use...If you haven't had the email you won't get the discount
It seems from the previous posts that it's targeting rare customers. I received the email but my only purchases so far are child Haymarket-Edinburgh £1.15 tickets (which i dont use) every time they have 1000bonus nectar points offer...It would be interesting to know of if there is a prerequisite to receiving the email (e.g. customer who hasn't bought from VTEC in a long time or regular big-spending customer) or if it's completely at random.
Hopefully VTEC haven't finished sending emails out yet, so there's still a chance for those of us who haven't received it yet to participate in the seat sale. Knowing my luck though, if and when I receive the email, the sale will probably have finished already...

Correct, the link saysPresumably non-o2 priority members will also have access to the sale a couple of days later.
