I've never had any problems but I always carry spare new tokens in my wallet just in case of any problems.

Not looking like there'll be a VTEC January seat sale this year. I found the last few were rubbish but I'm sure others didn't. If nothing turns up late will this be the first time for a while that there has been no January sale?

Scotrail have a flash sale of evening Advances as follows:

The sale begins at 00:01 on 25 January and closes at 23:59 on Monday 29 January 2018.

Over 10,000 of our lowest price Advance fare tickets are available for travel throughout Scotland when you travel on evening trains after 6.30pm between Monday 12 and Thursday 22 February 2018.

I thought their cheapest advance fares always started at £5. You can still get these fares after the 22nd Feb.

I agree. But for the journey I looked at, there seemed to be more available than usual, so perhaps that's what's meant by "a sale".

Yes; people who would have ended up paying more than £5 will still be able to get the cheapest fare.

this offer is still giving 30% off all VTEC advances until the end February if it helps.

I've just been made aware that tokens are being printed in various papers this week too. The Northern website has been updated, with "Week 3" added back in for Johnstone Press titles.
Does anyone know if they appeared in the York Press? and if so, what dates?

I'm sure in the past the York Press has been included, but isn't listed on the website.

Failing that, if anyone else is able to assist, please PM me :)

They haven't featured in the York Press for a while (a year or so?). It is part of Newsquest, whilst the offer has only been in conjunction with Trinity Mirror and Johnstone Press titles recently. I had some tokens with the old angular N logo - which also said "York Press", so couldn't be mixed and matched ;)

Virgin Trains East Coast currently have a 50%off sale according to a email I got. The t&c's say it's limited to the recipient of the email, but the email itself says 500,000 tickets on sale and I ain't planning on buying that many tickets:D

Discounted tickets only appear after I've logged in.

Travel is from 5 March to 29 June inclusive, excluding 29 March-3 April, 4-7 May, 25 May-3 June and all Saturdays and Sundays from 12 May to 24 June 2018 inclusive. Railcard discounts can't be used with the offer.

A whole new way of having a seat sale.

I've had the East Coast email. Seems to be good availability of cheap tickets, including first class.

I got the email to an address/account I haven't used for ages - set up when problems with my usual account.

No email received to my usual account; nor has a friend who buys most of his tickets through VTEC.

When I looked for sale tickets with the rarely used account, there were many sale tickets. When I used my normal account, there were no sale tickets - just normal fares.

Seems like it may be a promotion addressed to rare users to get new business.

I'm comforted by the fact that their seat sales have been useless for me recently so I'm probably not missing anything now!

If you haven't had the email you won't get the discount ;)

Seems like it might be a good a idea to open a second email address/account and not use it except when you get a sale like this one which you get because you have an account that you don't use...

Hopefully VTEC haven't finished sending emails out yet, so there's still a chance for those of us who haven't received it yet to participate in the seat sale. Knowing my luck though, if and when I receive the email, the sale will probably have finished already...

It would be interesting to know of if there is a prerequisite to receiving the email (e.g. customer who hasn't bought from VTEC in a long time or regular big-spending customer) or if it's completely at random.

It seems from the previous posts that it's targeting rare customers. I received the email but my only purchases so far are child Haymarket-Edinburgh £1.15 tickets (which i dont use) every time they have 1000bonus nectar points offer...

I've got two VTEC accounts, one I use frequently, one I haven't used for over a year. Not surprisingly I got the seat sale email for the latter but not the former. When I tried to log in with the rarely used account it wasn't recognised, then when I tried the forgot your password link I was told that there was no VTEC account with my email address!

I was once a heavy user of the East Coast website, but since the website was made rubbish, I've barely used it - in fact, the only time was when they had a sale last August! I've not received a code this time around...

Well I now live in South Wales but I got the E-Mail (have not used VTEC for nearly a year)

I did check and there are genuine bargains - ie Falkirk to Newcastle for £13 First Class, Falkirk to London £37 First Class.

If I was still up there I would have booked a shed load for leisure trips. Unfortunately they have nothing from Newport.:(
