I'm currently using the Windsor Line daily and have watched as more and more SWR branding becomes apparent on trains. One thing I think works really well is the white writing on the side of the blue 458's. I can't tell if theres a sticker there or not, but it looks seamless and I think works really well. I know its temporary of course. But it got me wondering, when there has been re-branding for whatever reason, has there ever been any temporary combinations you have really liked? Whether its on trains or stations I don't mind, but I'd be interested to hear your suggestions.

Well i think the WMR and LWNR logos applied on top of the old London Midland colours looks a lot better than the actual new TOC liveries.

Interesting. I've not seen them yet actually. But I did see the knock up of the LWNR one and I quite liked the green. Just thought it looked odd without the yellow front. I seem to find most green liveries look good, I liked the Central one too.

The livery I like most is the Southern livery on the 377's. Living near the WCML I don't get to see them very often.

The CT livered 158s with TPE branding: https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6113/6307267558_445e93a717_b.jpg looked like a breath of fresh air after the horrible Northern Spirit/First mismatch: http://glostransporthistory.visit-gloucestershire.co.uk/images/158 762 Gloucester 16.3.jpg
Yeah the CT one was much better from those two haha. I've seen those Northern Spirit/First ones before (never in person mind) and thought it just looked terrible, which in itself I thought was quite cool haha.

Whilst I didn't share the same enthusiasm for their actual livery, the NatEx 'white stripe' was a good 'temporary' livery even though it was just due to a pointless rebrand on the Anglia side

Which one was that? Was that the 'ONE' livery with the white NX stripe?

I always liked the Class 158s in First TransPennine, good combination of colours.

I agree, though the orange looks a bit out of place. One of the better rebrandings I’ve seen, the worst being the blue bottom half of the old TPE 158s.

Agree the SWR branding suits the bold red and blue.

I don't see how that was accidental. They designed it to cover over the colourful stripes.
I don't mean 'accidental' as in the actual result of an accident. I just meant some unplanned ones that are the result of rebranding or half completed or something. I'm not surprised to see the TPE ones cropping up as not very popular haha.

It was certainly interesting when they were on Portsmouth to Cardiff runs with that written on the side! :D I quite liked it too though, and the shabby interiors! Wrecked but still cumfy!

I thought the former MML livery with East Midlands Trains branding looked good on the 222s (the current livery does look good though), I just thought the EMT font really suited the MML livery.

I think the unit was ordered by the leasing company (don’t know which) as a unit for hire and it was given a generic base livery

Correct. It was part of a speculative order by Porterbrook for 3x 170s (170397 - 170399) which were intially supposed to be for sport hire, but were taken on full time by Central.

I don't know if it really counts here or not, but the original SouthWest Trains livery created by adding an orange stripe to the existing NSE colours on the 442s was subtly pleasing I always thought. And indeed the following variant based on the NSE layout but with the colours reversed, as per the 'Slammers and 455s prior to the 'swoops'.
