I will be passing through Liverpool Street tomorrow. I also need a ticket for a later date, on a different line, with PlusBus. Is there a ticket office at Liverpool Street which will make this an easy purchase?

I've never had a problem buying odd tickets at Liverpool St, they're generally very good and clued up on tickets from outside the area

I second this, the main ticket office at Liverpool Street (near Platform 10) has always been excellent in my experience.

Thanks both for the pointers. Service with a smile. Slightly surprised, but had no problem at all providing what I wanted.

A follow up. When did the ticket office move? I use Liverpool Street most months, but have paid very little attention to the ticket office. The NR map still has the old location. The hoarding there could do with a seasonal 'Behind You!'. When I did spot the new location, it looked more like a Post Office.

It has been there a good while; certainly when I last used it at the end of May. I cannot remember if it was in its old position when I passed there the time before that in February.

I believe the London Liverpool Street ticket office is good for issuing tickets to places like the Netherlands via the ferry on the through ticlets and the through fares to Calais too?

Back in the day the staff at Liverpool St used to pride themselves in their European knowledge. Liverpool St was the station for Moscow after all. Although those staff have long retired, it would be nice to think the tradition continues, although I don't know just what the computer allows them to sell these days.

Hit and miss. I got there and after getting to the front of the queue, had 8 minutes to spare and very clearly asked for a specific point to point Off Peak ticket routed via Norwich. Despite being a simple request, it seemed to take an age to find. I paid and was given a ticket via Cambridge. I immediately spotted was the wrong ticket (price was very similar) and stood in silence while it took her over 5 minutes to cancel it and sell the right ticket. I missed the train as it took her until 1 minute after it left to sort it out.

Ever since then I've avoided using that place. If it's just the one ticket you're after, make sure you leave at least 10 minutes for the actual transaction to take place plus queuing time, just in case!

I’ve had both good and bad service there. I think it depends which cashier you get served by

There’s a few good old tiff there who used to issue European rsi, tickets in the airline style CIV booklets. They can only book Dutch Flyer tickets using the day sailing as they can’t book cabins yiu have to call Stena to book that directly.
