Just remembered that I saw something unusual on Thursday evening - 2x5 LO class 378s coupled and running empty stock northbound through Norwood Junction. Presumably because of the weather, but it made me wonder where they'd uncouple - is there somewhere north of New Cross Gate with a crossover so one unit could go back south or reach the New Cross Gate depot?

I wonder if they ever couple up in normal planned ECS moves?

There's a shunt move at canal junction just past silwood carriage sidings that will enable a 10 car to come back into new cross gate depot where it would be uncoupled.

Don't think there's any ecs moves on the east that are 10 car but know they have some on the north

There's also the Up Sussex Loop shunt that can be used. Then crossed back on to the Down Sussex Slow south of New Cross Gate, then back in to the depot via Platform 1.
