Not sure when the start date for this is but as it's supposed to be 'autumn 2017' it should be fairly soon.

According to IrishNews.com they'll be 4 x 1 hour episodes:
- Amritsar to Shimla
- Lucknow to Kolkata
- Mysuru to Chennai
- Jodhpur to Delhi

Also mentioned

The ninth series of Great British Railway Journeys and third run of Great American Railroad Journeys are both currently in production.

His programs are always very interesting and he is a good presenter with a nice way with the people he speaks to.

Much better television than all the so called reality rubbish

A NINTH series of GBRJ wow.

I find it a great way of highlighting the interest buildings and heritage in "lesser known" towns in the UK, the places you'd never think of visiting. Indeed I've visited many places as a result of them featuring on the show, with Lancaster being the latest one this Sunday :D

What's the programme next Tuesday? Portillo has been on constantly for ages now!

2 weeks of new British journeys
3 weeks of new US journeys
2/3? weeks of repeats of British/Irish journeys
New Weekly European journeys (Thursday evenings) starting last week

Any news on the Australian series?

I know he at least has been here in Aust only recently, but, when would we have an idea as to how soon we would know??

Thanks, I was wondering when this was eventually going to get broadcast. Should prove an intereting change to the other journeys Portillo has made.

It's one place where his vivid attire would almost blend in. :)

Yes, I think even HE might fail to be the most colourfully dressed person there! ;)

Let's hope the series doesn't become just another procession of anecdotes about how much India is indebted to GB's altruistic act of colonisation.

The European series is a new one? That's the problem with the continual repeats - it's become all but impossible to discern the new series from the old, given a cursory glance at the schedules, unless you have a better memory of the finer details than I can muster.

I thought the Great Continental Railway Journeys were repeats myself.

Regarding the Continental ones I thought it was one new visit to Ukraine, which has been split across two episodes, opposed to a full new series.

I found the episodes of Great Continental Railway Journeys very interesting, that mosque with the green was a particular favourite of mine out of the sights he visited.

It was part of the GBRJ series though, so no :P
Unless I missed a whole programme of related journeys?

No, they were just separate, wholly Irish journeys run as part of the GBRJ series but with "Goes to Ireland" tagged on to the title.

I recalled some of the sights from Michael Palin's Himalaya. I enjoyed it as well, it made an interesting change from Blighty and the Continent.
