As a nation, we are privileged to have excellent radio programmes through Radio 2.
Sounds of the Sixties with Tony Blackburn is superb.
As is Sounds of the Seventies with Johnny Walker,
And Sounds of the Eighties with Sarah Cox is enjoyable.

How long do we have to wait for Sounds of the Nineties ?

Come on Radio 2. It's about time.

Good point Yorksrob. Absolute Radio 90s is pretty good on dab for that era.
It was a good decade for music, although I probably would say that because I turned 17 in 1990 and also roadied for my friends indy/grunge band, I even did a bit of going to all weekend free parties and raves in various woods around the country.
Some of which I still remember...

90s had a very good era of music probably far better than the 00s and 10s.

Radio 1 have a greatest hit show on Sunday mornings with many 90s songs.

I was lucky to grow up in the era of grunge - it made "dressing up" to go down the pub very easy !

With streaming services like Spotify available you can have the 90’s all day, everyday!

Try Kerrang seeing as they play the same rock old ordinaire from the 90s up until the middle of the previous decade. Rather than playing any of the recent rock that's around. (Rock has definitely gotten better in the past 10 years)

If I hear Pop punk anthems, Limp Bizkit or Queens of the Stone age one more time, I'm going to blow chunks.

I agree with Cowley, Absolute Radio 90s is a great place to go for 90s music. There are some great playlists on YouTube as well!

Well Absolute 90s is ok depending on what kind of 90s music you like. The 90s is my favourite music decade because of shoegaze, C86 and Sarah indie pop. To be honest i hate most Brit Pop especially the later 90s stuff. Most "90s" stations play the latter not the former - which is fine as i know that's where the money is.

If you compare the RAJAR figures for Absolute Radio 90s to Absolute 80s/Heart 80s, that might give some kind of comparison as to the relative popularity of the music from those decades.

Absolute Radio 90s: 745,000
Absolute 80s: 1,474,000
Heart 80s: 1,166,000

I'm not sure those figures can be used to make comparisons. Popular 90s tracks seemed to get played more frequently on stations like Absolute Radio, Radio X and Virgin Radio than popular 80s tracks. Also it's worth noting that the stations available on DAB can vary from region to region and that some stations have a higher compression rate to others (even within the Absolute Radio family), so people listening on a state of the art hi-fi might avoid stations which have high compression.
