Portsmouth arms appears to be named after the pub and not a village.
The landlord at the pub was saying that Portsmouth Arms is a parish with a population of around 8. Not sure if that is correct though.

Chapelton (further along the line) surprisingly has more houses than you’d expect in the near area (but is still very rural)

Thinking laterally.......Heysham Harbour has a resident population of zero though obviously there are houses half a mile away, just not at the harbour

I dare say places like Metrocentre would be in with a shout, similarly Teeside Airport, but perhaps others like Castle Bar Park which I doubt technically has any population, or even some stations named after streets might have very low, or even no population. Roman Bridge might be in with a shout too.

Ex-railway cottages. I think they may be used as holiday homes and therefore not permanently occupied.

They're both still listed for Council Tax rather than Non Domestic Rates so not run full time as holiday cottages. There are also another 2 houses at Tigh Cherracher and 3 at Innis Chonain but they are pretty much equidistant between Loch Awe and Falls of Cruachan so you can't really count them.

Thinking outside the box here..."Smallest place with a station named after it."

St Keyne Wishing Well Halt. The Wishing Well itself is only 1m or so long/wide.
