I would have to go for Alan Bennett. Something about the soft Yorkshire tone would suit it well.
That would confuse the punters. Yorkshire Airlines already have "Alan Bennett class".

Daffy Duck would be good for the Windsor lines - Sunnymeads, Sunningdale, Staines...

What about Ringo Starr?, comes with railway experience, followed by my own choice, Julian Clary with the help of Fanny the Dog.

Peter Sellers in the style of Laurence Olivier's interpretation of Richard III's version of "A Hard Day's Night":

Charlotte Green and Brian Perkins
Henry Blofeld (who would probably describe all of the buses outside each station!)

W H Auden in " Night Mail" cadence

"This is the ten-thirty service to Glasgow
Calling at Preston, Carlisle and Glasgow.
Pulling out of Euston a steady climb,
The gradient against us but the train is on time".

Something like that? ;)

I'd like announcements made by local personalities. For Cornwall I'd suggest Jethro. He always puts a smile on my face, and of course, "the train don't stop Camborne Wednesdays, never has done and in my opinion never will do".

If you don't know the joke try this YouTube link.

Women only.

As for the "See it, say it, sorted" chap (and the person who dreamt it up), they should take a walk along an electrified 3rd rail.

I'd opt for either Ford Keirnan and Greg Hemphill as Jack and Victor from "Still Game" That would be interesting and funny!
Anthony Hopkins
Richard Burton in his War of the Worlds cadence, (Alas no longer with us)
Michael Caine
Derek Griffiths would make some comedy style announcements!
My joint favourites would have to be Harry Hill/ Dave Lamb for announcements, they'd have some sarcasm thrown in!

Jack & Victor actually did some recorded announcements for Exhibition Centre station when Still Game Live was running at the SSE Hydro - some of the station signage was also altered to match!

Long John Baldry would've been fantastic, but alas his hatred for that hedgehog led him to the grave.

Failing that, R. L Ermey, preferably in Full Metal Jacket drill instructor mode?

Some voices just work. I think it's Peri Gilpin who does (or used to do) the Seattle Metro "Doors open to the Left" announcements.

The most important element is that the voice is clear.

Paul Darrow, who does the voice of "Jack FM" or "Union Jack", would work very well indeed.
