Hi. RTT shows this Thameslink service from London Bridge to Guildford:

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W60955/2018/05/29/advanced

Which then returns to Streatham Hill Shed as a Southern service.

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W49730/2018/05/29/advanced

Southern run 377s and 455s. Thameslink run 700s. Does anyone know what stock these diagrams are booked for?

Thanks :D
It will probably be a Southern service and that the wrong operator code is in RTT for now.

It's fairly common for TL/GN/SN/GX to be used interchangeably, correctly or otherwise for the route's branding. Doesn't really mean anything, they are all the same company after all ;)

I believe some of the Southern services into Guildford are transferring to Thameslink from June.

According to RTT no more Southern passenger services from Guildford, only the empty working to and from the depot. Two Thameslink services to London Bridge each way.

It's just the wrong brand being used. It covers a lot of Epsom/Dorking/Guildford Services. They will all be 377s in Southern branding.

There have been numerous reports here in the last month or so of uploaded data for the GTR group of franchises accidentally having the wrong operator code loaded.

If a service operator looks wrong based on having different arriving and departing TOCs, or is operating to a previously unannounced destination not on the published map, then it almost certainly is wrong.

There was an all day “TL” service showing on RTT from Epsom to London Bridge bays only a few days ago. Quite obviously an error?

It may well be wrong, but I'm positive I read it somewhere though.
It’s quite easy to find Thamesink route maps and descriptions online that include Guildford services though, trouble is they reflect completely out of date proposals, from around 10 years ago. FCC were still showing Guildford about 5 or 6 years ago, but it was always presumed out of date.

There was also a recent discussion about misleading uploaded data in the timetables forum starting about here:

Probably an out of date proposal that never made it off the drawing board then ;)

As TL and SN don't represent different operators, it's neither wrong nor right. It just is. In pretty much the same way that it is now.

At a recent staff timetable brief we were told that in the December 2018 timetable Southern services to Guildford will be withdrawn and diverted to Dorking.

Could that be because SWR want the paths or platform capacity?

These services will definitely remain operated under the Southern brand with Southern crew, for the time being (at least until December timetable change, of course, if not much longer).

There are certainly suggestions that this could become a peak-time Thameslink route, but such suggestions are basically in the glorified timetable change rumour mill. For now, the operator code on RTT is in error.

The stock booked for the service will be 377s, in 3+3+4 coach formations. Only Selhurst drivers and Selhurst conductors will work these services, as now (due to route knowledge constraints). To change any of this would require a fair bit of work.

I remember when the Southern Milton Keynes - East Croydon service was announced as Thameslink and we all laughed... now the codes barely mean anything anymore. Might as well do what Network Rail did the other year and just call everything TL and use it, as so many random services are using the TL code instead of SN or GN now!

I feel sorry for the people untangling the similar mess when they move West Midlands Trains from the LM operator code to the two separate ones for London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway! As either it is very difficult or GTR are not trying very hard... :p
