The rock charts have improved seven fold since the dire situation we were in 10 years ago, when emo stuff, boring indie and the pop punk hangover was stinking up the air waves. There's been some good releases in the rock charts, from the likes of Royal Blood, Frank Carter and the Rattle Snakes and PINS.
It's now possible to listen to mainstream rock and find stuff to like, we're beginning to get variety again. However I can't sustain my interest for too long in mainstream rock when King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard released a phenomenal 4 albums and 1 more imminently (expected within the next few days) in one year. My favourite album of the year has got to be Murder of the Universe:
I strongly urge anyone who's into psychedelia, jazz, garage rock, indie or anything a bit different to give them a listen as they'll be the band to watch in 2018. I also can't wait for Shannon and the Clams - Onion due for release February next year.
