Hi

Can anyone please let me know the traction and routes that drivers at GWR based at Penzance would sign?

I’m considering applying and it would be nice to know :)

Thanks for any help (or advice you might have) in advance

Tristan

As far as I am aware
2 links, West and HSS
West sign Penzance - Exeter; St Erth - St Ives; Truro - Falmouth & Long Rock depot. 150/153, and in the future 158
HSS lose Truro - Falmouth but gain HST (in the future IET) and class 57/08

Excellent. Thanks a lot, I appreciate that. Do you choose which link or is it normal for them to allocate you a link?

Thanks again

That is the case at Paddington, start on Thames Valley lines and then go to HSS.

I am so sorry but can anyone also give me the same information about routes and traction for the same company based as a driver at Exeter St. Davids?

Honestly, I appreciate any advice on this.

Thanks in advance

Tristan :)

Exeter west (the part you would join) start in the bottom link doing Barnstaple, exmouth and Paignton.
After a while u would add Plymouth and Bristol to that then after a while longer you choose either the east or west link. East link does all of the above with addition of Cardiff and Westbury whilst west link do Penzance.
Traction is currently 150 153 158 143.

After a couple of years productive you may be able to register to join high speed ( but that agreement is currently all up in the air potentially so don't necessarily count on it )

If on high speed eventually you would do London to penzance plus Exmouth Paignton bristol parkway and on HstS (though soon to be IETS ) class 57s plus the above units.

Good depot and link.progression at present is relatively swift , blokes who joined 3 years ago already on high speed , completely unheard of in the past. Good luck.

Thanks Irish_Rail I truly appreciate yours and everyone elses input. It'd be a huge move for me so I'm trying my best to get as much information as possible before any kind of commitment. I, honestly appreciate it. Have a great week :)
