Hello it's been a while.

Had a terrible time on Northern this past week.

Now on the 1721 Leeds to Southport which departed Leeds about half an hour late and is currently stuck about 100 yards outside the station with stuck brakes. Thought it could be a SPaD at first but the guard has been on the PA and she said it was a brake fault.

Might be here for a while folks any information you have would be useful. This will probably be causing a lot of disruption considering our position.

Driver said a fitter would be out by about 10 mins ago. This service is now cancelled and we won't be back in Leeds station in time for the next Northern.

Well they either held the 1823 or we got lucky. Big rush from Platform 11A to 11C. No directions from staff, just a few people with apps and everyone else following them. Looked like guard used common sense as they were about to go. On our way now.

Why do enthusiasts and non railway staff with a little railway knowledge get so fired up and excited about the prospect of any train grinding to a sudden halt doing so because a signal has been passed at danger? There are hundreds and hundreds of reasons for an emergency brake application, a SPAD is one of the rarer ones

Indeed.......brake applications happen a lot .....just today I was on one where it happened in a tunnel because the driver didnt cancel the DSD alarm quick enough....it happens.
