Any newly refinished coach goes road from Wolverton to Reading for fitness to run, then out of use In train to us for all its exam/testing/training before entry into public service. Will keep you informed so don't panic !
10217s entry will be a while off yet as on train staff will all need training for it.

IF it gets here next week !

Regarding Night Riviera rescue, correct in saying now mostly 2 locos either end. Plus DRS have the rescue contract should it be required. Often, trips are now TNT as loco due for exam works down to us and return afterwards.

57605 is stopped at Reading for repair tonight so DRS 57306 will be doing the honours as the ECS pilot loco.

602: down
603: stopped at Penzance
604: up

What is the current formation of this train (I know it is all Mk3s now)? And what will the formation be when all the upgraded coaches are in service?

Both answers are previously posted but, starting from PZ end:
A coach, brake standard open
B coach, disabled standard open
C coach, buffet lounge
D,E,F,G coaches and H on Fri down, sun up, Sleepers.
After refurb, D sleeper will have easy access sleeper berth and toilet.
At some point, an extra sleeper will be added all days, coach H/I , but currently unsure most likely start of next summer timetable.

This morning a shiny newly painted GWR sleeper car was on the A33 into Reading.
Traffic stopped me catching its number

Last nights down was brake coach less due to a power fault so top n tailed 602 and 603.
Tonights up will include BG 6348 as emergency parking brake/linen/bike space.
SLEPD 10601 unfit to run so should be down here now next week before entry into service.

6348 was on the rear of the down sleepers this morning. Is it remarshalled to the other end for tonight’s up working or does it stay on the London end?

Perhaps co-tr-Paul can supply the answer?!

I'm on rest day ! Was the set the right way round ? The brake is normally at the PZ end regardless of up or down service .
6348 is through piped.

Sleeper coaches were London end and day coaches the other, 6348 on the rear (London end).

Shouldn't matter. FGW_DID may be able to explain any Reading shunt ...!!!!
Could be to enable traincare staff to access clean linen sent from us ?
Currently, our A road - old shed - is being repainted so LND end would help our staff too !

Update: did not operate on up last night.

Double headed from Reading is what I'm hearing. 57604 Pendennis Castle up front at Paddington, load 10 as you say, with 57605 Totnes Castle on the rear. 57605 to run round at Reading for remainder of journey, is what I've read elsewhere.
