Good evening all, I don't know if this should be here, or somewhere else, But I was watching the 'All The Stations - The Documentary' a few weeks ago, and was wondering if anyone knew of any hotels like the one they stayed in at Corrour, or like the Blenheim hotell on Dawlish seafront but elsewhere on the network? I know any hotel would be fairly niche, especially on a busier line but I like the idea of having nice views, and views of the railway at the same time. Many thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Nowhere near as rural, but the Park Plaza at Waterloo provides an awesome view of Waterloo station from many of its platforms. Many an hour could pass just looking out at the view of the station, especially at the peak.

Slightly different but ‘Railway Cottages’ in Whitby back onto the line just outside the station with good views of 156’s in and out on their irregular timetable (or steam trains if that’s more your thing!).

I travel regularly for work and a couple that spring to mind are:

The Clayton Hotel - Cardiff
gives you an excellent view of Cardiff Station. Barely a minute goes by without a train of some description coming past.

The Holiday Inn Express - Watford Junction
Excellent views of the WCML as it goes through Watford. The Pendolinos pelt through at at least 100MPH and if you're on a high enough floor, you can see them coming from a long way off too.

Travelodges at Macclesfield and Warrington Central give a good view over the metals - though only if on the side of the building facing the railway.
The Warrington one cannot be described as picturesque though.

The Premier Inn in stroke gives views onto the Medway valley line.
There's a Travelodge in Huddersfield that gives views onto the station

Ibis at Barnsley is a couple of metres from between the Dodworth-Barnsley line.

Premier Inn Gloucester Barnwood you can see the Cheltenham-Bristol Parkway line.

Premier Inn Sittingbourne you can see the Gillingham-Sittingbourne line before it curves up to Sheerness.

Hotel BB at Paris Malakoff ( between Malakoff Plateau and Porte de Vanves Metros ). Literally adjacent to the main line out of Montparnasse, but you'll need to ensure you book a room in the following range if you want a view of the line:

500 to 512
536, 537 or 538
600 to 612

The 4th floor would also be OK, but you'll start getting the tops of trees in the way.

3rd floor - you'll be looking through gaps in the trees.

Below that - no chance of a worthwhile view at all!

London Travel lodge at Aldgate east and nearby tower bridge both overlook approach to Fenchurch Street if you get the rooms away form street side - cleared c2c 387s and most 357s in two hour rush hour period.
first train the next morning sounds like it coming straight through your room though. Also overlooks the DLR if that is your thing.

You have to get a room on a higher floor - one time I stayed there I got a beautiful view of the OLE and the occasional passing pantograph.

If you're feeling adventurous then the LETO Motel at Munich Moosach gives you good views over the adjacent station.

High floors of ParkInn in Rue D’Angleterre in Brussels over look out over Gare du Midi. You need to be in the rooms facing Rue d’Angleterre though.

A foreign option for you, albeit from a few years ago - the Ibis Reims Centre Gare - half the rooms face onto the train station over the car park. Photo taken from my hotel room

The Livermead House Hotel in Torquay backs onto the line to Paignton. Some of the rooms directly overlook the tracks.
