Is there an obscure reason why the 'next train' describer boards on the platforms at Barons Court have never been replaced by the modern (since 1980s) orange kit, which tells you *when* the next three trains are due?

I thought the last of these white-against-black boards had disappeared years ago!

There's still quite a few in East London. Upton Park and Stepney Green have them, to name but two.
The Upton Park one still says Metropolitan Line as well, when it's been the H&C for over twenty years.

Hadn't realised that. I lived at the eastern end of the District Line until 2007, and all the boards east of Barking (I think) had been replaced well before I moved away.

Given it's not a large capital investment, in the scheme of things, I'm quite surprised there are lingering remnants of a much earlier era.

New dot-matrix describers have been installed on all platforms now, currently not working.
Expect the previous ones to be removed soon.
