Spotted a Grand Central 180 (180106*) in Leeds station this morning (~08:20) - wondered what is it doing there?
GC don't operate into, out of, or even through Leeds even though it would love to I'm sure!

It was showing 'Not in service' on its external PIS. Sat in a bay platform (6 or 7 I think)

Have Northern hired one in from their fellow Arriva subsidiary again?

*Still resplendent in First colours but with GC stickers on the windows

Yes GC are providing a "Northern" service in the morning from Hebden Bridge to Leeds via Bradford Interchange and then back in the evening. I believe it's been running since at least the May timetable change?

Morning run here and evening run here.

When a small group of us did it in late May 1st class was declassified which made for a very luxurious journey to Hebden Bridge!

And it was running for quite a while before the timetable change as well, except only from Halifax, and only in the morning.

It started off as an extra originally Bradford to Leeds on a morning then it was extended to start at Halifax then from this timetable change it now starts at Hebden Bridge each time running ECS back to Bradford to pick up its diagrammed London service. Plus a tea time run back to Hebden.

Is this true now? Before May, when the service was morning only, the train certainly continued in GC service to London later in the day.

In May, it changed so that the unit returned to Crofton after both morning and evening services. I had assumed that the unit was a spare from the London services and that Crofton managed to fit maintenance into the period around lunchtime.

May have been a short notice alteration then, as following the unit's workings from the one linked above it goes to Bradford to form the 1022 to Kings Cross!

Thanks, I'm unable to check at the moment. While the morning service has changed back to continuing to run to London, I assume the evening is a spare from Crofton?

Yes it comes straight from Crofton and goes straight back to Crofton (which means the guard has to travel pass on a Northern service to Bradford to get home).
