Hi is anyone else going to assessment centre on the17th July at Southampton. Any last minute advice for the assessment tests. It’s with SWR. I don’t think I’m doing any interviews but could someone give me the low down on the routes I would be working and how long training is and what it covers.

I'm a Commercial Guard but at a different depot. As far as I know, you'll sign Exeter St Davids to Waterloo via Salisbury and Basingstoke. You'll also sign Salisbury to Waterloo via Southampton Central as a diversionary route and you'll work the Romsey to Salisbury rounders. Training is about 4 months, youll spend about 10 weeks at the training school which will be your rules and traction, then you go to your depot for your routes.

Hi thanks I’m external applicant so just trying to learn as much info as possible I’m just about to leave the army after 22 years. I’ve been practicing the tests that they sent out any tips for the tests. Am I better off being a bit slower and more accurate. How long have you worked for SWR and do you enjoy it.

As above however you also sign Exeter St David’s - Salisbury Via Yeovil Pen Mill, Westbury and Castle Cary!

Derp. Forgot about those! Swanage too, however not sure if there’s a crew change at Weymouth though?
Derp.
I believe Weymouth - Corfe is Bournemouth diesel link crew (who sign 159 for the Lymington anyway) but could be wrong.

Hi people
Thanks for the replies I passed assessment centre and now have an interview next week. I am also in the fortunate position to be invited to assessment centre GWR for the role of conductor. What am I likely to be asked at interview and has anyone worked for both companies is either one better than the other.
