I'm looking to take advantage of the £20 London to Margate offer advertised by Southeastern. Since I live in Abbey Wood (and hold a Zones 1-4 Travelcard), can I start from Abbey Wood on this ticket? Its terms and conditions say that I cannot break and resume my journey, and I don't know if it's treated as a regular Off Peak ticket or not. Otherwise I'd be in the rather silly position of having to travel into a London terminal and then back out again, which is just a waste of time.

If the terms of the ticket bar breaking your journey, then starting late or stopping short is not permitted, in the same way it isn't for Advances. The conditions applicable to Off-Peak or other tickets would, in this case, not be relevant.#

Of course it would involve a circuitous journey for you, so it is possible that you may be authorised to break your journey by staff members - either on the day, or in advance on Twitter or otherwise.

Thanks. I suppose then these special fares are targeted more towards people who don't live within Southeastern's area, which is somewhat puzzling.

Assuming you are going from Abbey Wood towards Margate and hold a travelcard, the chance of getting caught is pretty small.

Can you not just buy the ticket to start at Abbey Wood? The T&C's state:

"Tickets valid to the 13 destinations above from London stations (zones 1-6) served by Southeastern".

Source: https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/destinations-and-offers/offers

When I tried to book from Abbey Wood before, it wouldn't give me the £20 fares for some reason. Tried again after clearing my past journey and now they're showing up. No idea what happened there. So, this is a much better idea and I'll just do this instead. Thanks!

I Saw this same issue with Slade Green to Margate. I was looking to get the seaside special Ramsgate service that leaves at 0943 but it wouldn’t offer me the £20 fare.
Then I noticed that you can’t use the ticket til 10am. As soon as I changed the departure time to after 10am it came up.

It does seem a bit silly that Southeastern are running a direct train on the Woolwich line to the Kent coast but you can’t use their £20 tickets on it. Would have been a great advertisement for them had they put such an easement on the ticket.

Also the £20 fare shows up for journeys from Slade Green to Hastings travelling via London Bridge which surprised me.
