I don’t think comparing the ride on Pendolinks and 350s on the fast lines should count, surely?

Wasn’t much of the fast lines on the WCML upgraded for the higher running speed of the pendolinos and voyagers?

never had a ride issue on a 350. Good quality trains. Cant say i have had an issue on a 185 either apart from Mirfeild/Heaton Lodge which always seems a bit roller coasty
They’re just about adequate. The ride is poor, the aircon deafening and their pantographs keep falling off.

Went from Waterloo to Southampton and returned on the same day on the 444s. Absolutely horrendous ride quality but definitely got worse over the past few months! Could this be due to track deterioration?

From my experience Desiros usually have good ride quality - much better than any Electrostar. But 350s/450s seem to be better than 444s.

You must be very unlucky. My experiences are the polar opposite. I use LM 350's every day of the week. Never had an issue beyond a blocked toilet and a door out of use. I have certainly not had a pantograph fall off

The 450s and 444s did have bogie mods done a few years ago because they were causing excessive track damage. There was a rumour a few months ago that more mods were being considered. The rough riding might well be the bad state of the track but the units themselves are contributing to that.

When the 360s were introduced on the GEML there was a bit of bad track on the embankment near the Spring Lane viaduct London-side of Colchester. At 100mph it would lurch alarmingly. Overall though they're a sturdy feeling train.
