Effective 05-Sep-2018:

5A77 0510 Penzance T&RMSD - Penzance
1A77 0541 Penzance - Paddington, via. Westbury
1C80 1203 Paddington - Penzance, via. Westbury
1A35 1742 Penzance - Paddington via. Bristol Temple Meads
5A35 Paddington - North Pole IEP Depot

Are all booked Class 800 / 802. Certainly all the way through to the end of October so I guess this is permanent. I can't tell what the diagram is which supplies the unit for 5A77 for the next day.

Any idea as to which service will be will be terminating at Penzance to stable the 80x at Long Rock. To enable the above. Thanks.

Everyone, please stop reading these 5th September dates as the introduction dates. These are LTP “block periods” and the actual dates will be altered to the correct Monday start date by STP. 24th September is the next date for diagram cut over and that will only happen if enough units appear and enough drivers are trained by then.

It's IET - InterCity Express Train, the GWR brand for the units, as opposed to IEP, which is the Inter City Express Programme, which was the government programme to acquire the trains.
Other, unofficial, names are also available....

... like “Super Hitachi Intercity Train”.

LTP = Long Term Plan
STP = Short Term Plan

I assume?

Yes. The GWR Train planning set up is slightly different to most others in that the LTP planners plan everything on the block dates only and the fill in is dealt with by the STP planners, even if it actually an LTP adjustment.

So you may find a block date plan in RTT which will then be subsequently altered by STP to bring it backwards or forwards to the correct date. Ideally this would all happen as one but such is the current pressure on the GWR STP team that the STP alteration may well appear later.

Just a reminder 19th Sept is during the 3 week closure of Bristol Parkway. South Wales divert via Bath to Patchway, and are reduced to hourly from Paddington departing 15 past the hour.

Cheers for that. Will try get some seat reservations made.

The 06.42 from Hereford to Paddington is now being worked by an IET, though a five-car set turned up today. Was rather cosy from Charlbury and Hanborough as far as Oxford as a result.

It seems that the following diagrams switched from HST to IET on Monday

1742 Paddington - Cheltenham
1837 Paddington - Cheltenham
2120 Cheltenham - Temple Meads (onto Stoke Gifford)

Is there any up to date full diagram list for these or is the situation to "fluid" to keep it up to date?

As fluid as the River Thames from what I can tell. As has been mentioned previously there is no increase in the total number of IET diagrams this week, but there seems to have been a lot of swaps between which trains are booked IET, which are booked hst and which are booked turbo (Thames Valley). So while there are some trains that have gone over to IET, there are others that have reverted to hst and one hst turn has gone over to a 2-car turbo (includes 0807 Oxford - Paddington). On top of that the situation is(was?) further complicated by Hitachi/Agility being unhappy with the quality of the fuel at Laira so that the IET turn that stables there overnight is being covered by an hst which has knock on consequences. By the time all of this weeks changes have been digested it will be next week when everything will change because of the Bristol Parkway block.

According to postings elsewhere 802101 was in passenger use on Monday on Cotswold line services starting with 0528 Hereford - Paddington and then 1221 Paddington - Worcester etc. I don't know if it had worked prior to that though. It was planned to work to the West Country yesterday but it didn't make it and hence the use of 800012 to Penzance.
