ATW posted a banner at the top of Journey Check on Friday warning of cancellations but, instead of listing routes, vaguely listed various vulnerable stations. Saturday and Sunday and again Monday multiple cancellations or short journeys on the Cambrian route and Sunday also between Shrewsbury and Birmingham. On Sunday only a third of the services along the coast to Pwllheli ran and, although saying in advance that road transport would be provided were still struggling on Sunday to source this leaving passengers in limbo with Twitter unable to confirm. Sunday and Monday, some services in the Chester area also suffering. The Cambrian has seen many cancellations recently apart from this weekend. West Wales has also suffered badly recently but with road transport provided and arranged in advance, and strangely nothing affected in that area over the weekend although stations listed on the banner.

I do love to see the traincrews getting the blame, completely their fault the company hasn’t had the foresight to hire enough staff eh!

Sort of shafted my day tomorrow - means I'll have to leave 2 hours early to get on the Cambrian Coast now, as my original train to Pwllheli is cancelled!
(If only I could get Delay Repay for having to wake up much earlier :'()

Of course it's the fault of the staff!
We all know very well that given the option the management would happily spend many millions of their own personal money ensuring that every traincrew depot had at least 10 full crews for every turn, plus sickness and holiday cover, but the nasty staff won't allow it because they insist on every depot being kept short-staffed and reliant on overtime working so they can line their own pockets. Why else would depots be short-staffed all the time?
</tongue in cheek>

Haha. Exactly.

Even if the company employs a million new train drivers/crew if their contract says not compulsory to work Sunday's or bank holidays then they're not obligated to work and then there will still be cancellations.

As someone who's contractually had to work every Saturday and Sunday for the past three years, I don't blame staff for not wanting to work them personally. Yes it's inconvenienced me today, has done before and will do in the future. But really, I sympathise.

It’s been done to death about Sunday’s needing to be part of the working week or compulsory or similar, but the fact that there has been mass cancellations on a Saturday/Monday too as shown here, shows a fact that’s there’s a reliance no matter what day of the week on the goodwill of traincrew volunteering to work overtime and rest days just to cover the basic train plan each day. I won’t get into the rights and wrongs but that’s the facts!
