Hello,

Does anyone work for the above and can provide a little bit of information on whether they are a good company to work for? Type of work you’d be expected to do as a driver? Pension, Benefits etc. Number of weekends worked? Roster length?
The links they cover. Open to all locations, as I’m not averse to relocating..

Thanks in advance

Is this company part of the secret service or does no one on here genuinely not work for them?

I don't work for them, but I know they've just had a pay rise recently and Sundays are included, 35 hour average week. One thing to bear in mind is that they are not part of the Railway Pension Scheme (final salary) - they have their own company pension scheme which is not as generous.

I moved a few years ago from another FOC. In comparison they're much better. Not perfect by any means. Terms are pretty good and stuck to. Plenty of overtime if you want it. Drivers do some groundstaff and guards duties. Pensions not the best but the firm isn't going to go bust.
Weekends vary by Depot but they all have weekend work. Rosters change regularly which can make planning difficult.

Oh, and the work is pretty varied. A range of traction and routes, as well as different trains make the work interesting.

Yes, here is an ASLEF Circular regarding the latest DRS pay deal:

Circular No. 382/2018 TO: ALL BRANCHES & REPRESENTATIVES – DRS Fellow Members, DIRECT RAIL SERVICES – REVISED 2018 PAY OFFER

In their 10 July 2018 session, the Executive Committee gave consideration to reports from the Lead Officer and Company Council regarding the above.

Further to discussions, DRS has proposed a revised 2018 pay offer summarised below which the negotiating team felt able to recommend to the Executive Committee:

• The existing company bonus scheme will be replaced with a pro-rata (within recognised driving grades) payment which will be entered onto the pensionable salary before the 2018 percentage offer will be put onto the salary. The value of this pensionable payment equates to £1,717, which is around a 3.5% increase on the current salary.

• Year 1 (2018) = 5%
• Year 2 (2019) = 4% or RPI, whichever is the greater using February 2019 RPI figure.
• Year 3 (2020) = 4% or RPI, whichever is the greater using February 2020 RPI figure.

There are no strings attached to the percentile offer.

Therefore, the payment which will buy out the existing bonus scheme will be consolidated into the current salary, then the pay offer will be calculated upon this updated salary. The current company bonus scheme is variable and unpredictable and reliant on company performance.

If acceptable, an example of this offer for a fully qualified train driver whose salary is currently £48,923 will be increased to £50,640 immediately. Then, the Year 1 payment will make that salary £53,172. The Year 2 payment will then lift this salary to £55,299. And finally, the Year 3 salary will be increased to £57,511.

The Executive Committee adopted the following resolution: 733/482 Proposed Calfe, seconded Colombini “That the report be adopted and the General Secretary be instructed to advise the HR Director, DRS that the proposed 2018 Drivers Pay Offer is acceptable to ASLEF. All Branches and Reps, DRS be advised.”

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of your members.

Yours fraternally MICK WHELAN General Secretary
