So much black paint! Given they are 5-car dare I suggest these are 21st Century "Black 5s"? (I'll get my coat)

Good lord, that's ugly, and makes it look older than the previous livery. And there was me thinking one benefit of London Overground being a concession under a local authority control rather than a standard TOC might've been they wouldn't ape TOCs with completely unnecesary repainting. Ho hum!

It looks great ... I mean it would look great without the yellow front (which they had to apply as they understandably didn’t want to change all the headlights) and the messy orange line. Just remove the rushed orange line on the front and it’ll be more than fine.

Looks really good apart from the orange whiskers up the side, that bit just looks like they ran out of black paint

I don't dislike it to be honest. My biggest problem is the amount of black makes it look unbalanced, but other than that it is fine.

Old livery is far better though.

I quite like it, but wish they had left the black numbers on the end. The new numbers are much harder to read, especially light blue on royal blue. Hope they have given the floors inside a good scrub as they were looking very grubby on the ones I saw 3 weeks ago.

The main change I would make is extending the orange stripe onto the roof solebars, in a similar way to how SWT did it with their units. That would look far more bold and Aventra-like IMHO; this little "flick" up the sides of the cab looks fairly awkward.

It looks too unbalanced with that orange 'smile', I think. Perhaps less black, with there just being a band of it over the windows would help. Looks a fairly rushed livery to me, as if they only found out after applying the orange front that they needed the yellow panel.

Looks to be the rail equivalent of a Honda Civic fitted with an aftermarket body kit to make it look like a BMW.

Is there anything concrete to say they won't eventually get an orange front end? Obviously the lights need to be altered to some degree but is it not possible that TfL is in the process of designing that modification, getting it signed off by the relevant parties and obtaining parts and decided that it was better to get this unit returned to service rather now than waiting for those things to be completed?

I suspect TfL probably have other priorities right now than replacing perfectly functional headlamps on trains that aren't even that old.

Correct the yellow is a temporary vinyl pending full paperwork by reports

Agree with those who say the livery will benefit from an all orange front end. However, the colour palette used by TfL is just awful. I honestly think that Birmingham has it right by colour coding different forms of transport...the old, Keep It Simple.

To be honest, with the original look with an orange front as per the image on the first page of this thread, I think it would. That said, I still think the original livery is better than either.

What disturbs me is the non-parallelism of that orange band...
I agree with your old livery opinion.

I am quite surprised by this from LO, the brand is meant to be a change from traditional TOCs and promote simplicity without gimmicks such as wonky lines.

It's because it mimicks the livery of the Class 710s almost exactly - and they are liveried the way they are to fit the more curved frontage of the Aventra body. This is simply doing what TfL always do, brand commonality across their fleet.

Quite a "Marmite" livery it seems...

I quite like it, though despite being generally in the pro-yellow camp I don't think it works on this. Hopefully all the paperwork will get sorted correctly!

What they should have done is got Best Impressions in to sort out this orange and black mess, plus the awful Elizabeth Line livery which does not work with the lines of the bodywork.

Didn’t they learn that either you adapt your livery to each of your vehicle types, either you make a livery that fits all of them ?
