Off topic a bit but hoping you have HST power car windscreens in stock. One needs replacement on 43198 tonight. London end of LA63.

Big change to the NR from tonight :
Position of chocolate has had to be changed from on bed to on sink lid.
Somebody tried eating the soap.
Genuine.
You just know that, rather than just going "what an idiot", GWR will have had someone spend a day doing a risk assessment and a load of paperwork (possibly with human factors input as well) and have come up with this as the mitigation.

Was the windscreen changed or did a power car swap take place?

I've just shown my 4 year old the picture of the chocolate and the soap, and asked him which was which. He got the answer right first time, and even wondered how anyone could get it wrong.

Maybe a potty mouth had a flashback to childhood and thought, "Well Ma always said I should wash my mouth out with soap."

I hope nobody minds me asking this question in my first post.......!
I am hoping to "find" class 57 602 while i am in sunny Cornwall - in the next week.

Down from "less sunny" glasgow with my lovely wife and she has "given permission" for me to go loco hunting.

i did the train spotting thing between 1978 and 1982 and class 47 337 (now 57 602) was the only class 47 i never saw. when i gave up - i needed one class 40 (090) one peak (45 059), one class 20 (009) and a handful of other locos (not counting shutters).

but it was 47 337 that bugged me the most and continues to bug as, technically..... it still exists and hasn't been turned into razor blades.

i am hoping someone can tell me if it will be working in the next week on the Night Riviera and i can hopefully go and see it either at Redruth or in Penzance (if visible from road).

sorry for long story - but it has been 36 years in the making.......!

57602 is currently stopped at Reading TCD for repair! I’ll try to keep an eye out for it and post on here if it gets put on the down Sleeper.

Welcome to the forum by the way, hope you get your Loco after all this time

My 2 year old, sat on my lap “look daddy chocolate” pointing at the correct product without prompting!

thanks for that quick reply. Back in the day i hunted for it on every trip - and with the wonders of the internet - i have since found out it was under repair in Crewe works for a large part of the time i was searching. it smacked into another loco in Birmingham New Street. had i known i could just have blagged my way round the works (as you did back then - simply by asking nicely).

hopefully it comes off repair soon and if you find out i would appreciate a heads up and will post a photo of it with a pale skinned Scottish, happy fat bloke in Cornwall - where it is still too warm for Glaswegians.

thanks

.....until well into next long term franchise. Refurb was designed to last 10 years. New stuff should be part of the franchise requirement but don't tell anyone yet....... .

Atmospheric shot. Thought there may have been more people on the platform to record the event ??
Shame I couldn't have travelled.on it.

Indeed. I thought the same when I got off it at Newton Abbot and no one was on platform 3 taking photos.

Thanks. Me too, only a small number disembarked and took photos. Same with last HST to Newquay yesterday, only around a dozen enthusiasts on board. Thought there would be more given it was a Sunday.

57602 is off repair but was used as the ECS pilot engine last night so remains at Reading. Will keep an eye out for today’s status update.
