Knocked out of the fa cup by Bradford pa. Poor. Very poor.

Although Darlo exit the FA cup at the first opportunity once again. This has, tiresomely become something that happens every year. I call in concentrating on the league day!

TBH it isn't about the romance of the cup or any of that guff. A cup run for a club like ours is almost essential. The prize money alone is very useful ( £9k for this round alone) and the chance of a TV appearance is like the holy grail. So what to Darlo do? That right. Fuch it up. Again.

( I know the premier league gods spend £9k a week on hair gel but for a small club it is a lifeline. Sigh.)

Leeds 1 Birmingham City 2

We gave away 2 shockingly bad early goals and we then struggled to break down a very defensively organised but cynical Birmingham side despite having 71% possession. We did get a late goal, but it wasn't enough. Special mention to the referee for his absolutely shocking performance for failing to stop Birmingham's time wasting. He did somehow find a pair and play 8 minutes of injury time, but I still don't think that was enough. Every attack we had seemed to end up with a Birmingham player on the floor needing treatment despite not being touched.

Next up Wednesday away on Friday, who have just beat Villa. They've given us 5000 tickets. Interesting times ahead.

A better result for Fort William this week. In the first round proper of the Scottish Cup they conceded a mere three goals without reply to West Lothian powerhouse Linlithgow Rose.

Liverpool 3-0 Southampton.

I went to see this game with my daughter and two friends. Another very good performance from us today, with a comical own goal (Xherdan Shaqiri's shot was deflected in by Wesley Hoedt) and goals from Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah earning Liverpool the three points. Salah had a second goal ruled out for offside in the second half, but I'm pleased he managed to score today.

Nice one, was hoping to be there today, alas the tickets fell through. Arsenal away looks like being the next fingers crossed, been to Highbury but never to the Emirates.

Merthyr Town 1...Winchester City 4 (Lucas 58; Barron 23, Mitford 41, 46, 70)

The FA Cup always throws up shocks and Winchester City exorcised the ghost of a 10-0 drubbing in 2013 in dramatic fashion. The hosts - riding high in the league above - started brightly but Jamie Barron opened the scoring from a free kick midway through the first half before Tyrell Mitford lofted the ball over the keeper. Mitford made it three just after half time before the hosts pulled a goal back, but Mitford completed his hat trick to send City into the next round of the cup.

A well struck goal from Danny Lowe midway through the first half was enough to see Avenue through to a 1-0 victory at Darlington in the FA Cup yesterday. The win was certainly overdue. Avenue last beat the Quakers in February 1965, when Kevin Hector grabbed the decider in a 2-1 victory at Feethams. Since then Avenue have failed to beat the County Durham outfit in 13 meetings (8 Football League, 4 non league, and one FL cup). I think I must have seen the whole lot.

Sad day at Gigg - just as the game was starting a bloke near me in the stand collapsed and had to be attended to by the ambulance crew, and I hear he died as the game progressed. Score - irrelevant.

Very sad. The game at Barnsley was also called off after someone at the stadium suffered a medical emergency requiring the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land on the pitch. I'm unaware of the condition of the person involved.

2 very sad incidents indeed. In the case of the guy at Barnsley, a long serving volunteer at the club I believe, the last update I saw was that he was in a serious but stable condition having been airlifted to hospital. It was the Burton players who raised the alarm having witnessed the man collapse and that's why the game was called off.

It was an FA Cup game. We haven't won one of those since about 1965! We were very poor.

We're not much better in the FA Cup. We first entered it in 1897 and have only beaten a side two divisions (or more) above us once in all that time. That was Everton in 1923.

Darlington clearly had an off day on Saturday - I thought Simon Ainge would intimidate our 18-year-old debutant keeper, but he wasn't allowed to.

Altrincham away in the next round. That's six times in a row we've been drawn against a team from our own league in the FA Cup, five of those games being away. Why do we never get an easy draw?

Glad it didn’t go to Turkey. Awful regime there.

Interesting that one awful regime managed to win the right to host a World Cup but another awful regime failed to win their bid to host the Euros. I wonder if the lack of Lira played a part in UEFAs decision ;)

Well, you can bet your bottom Dollar Euro that the ethics of the Erdogan regime wasn't a consideration...

Now imagining a scenario where the head of the Turkish FA offered 10m Lira as a bribe, and the UEFA delegates used it to buy him a beer!

Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds 1

Wednesday had the better of the opening exchanges and scored one of the best goals I've ever seen. Leeds turned the screw and then dominated the second half, we got an equaliser but couldn't quite get the ball over the line for a winner. An enjoyable match to watch and great atmosphere in the away end.

Good signs though, we are missing key players; last year at Hillsborough we conceded early then fell to pieces and lost 3-0. This time when we conceded we calmly took the initiative, got an equaliser and then dominated the game. A valuable away point.

Barcelona, sorry I mean Brentford at home next, a big test.

Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool.

We'd have easily won this if we weren't so wasteful in front of goal, it was so frustrating to watch at times.

Thankfully, late substitute Daniel Sturridge scored an excellent goal to equalise.

In today's Battle of the Duds Fort William lose 3 - 4 at home to Lossiemouth.
We may all laugh at Fort William, but at least they know where the goal is... our performance yesterday was much better and we deserved a point against a depleted Spurs side. But we keep making silly mistakes which we can't afford to make when we're so wasteful in the opposition box. I've been preparing myself for relegation since last summer though, so if we go down we go down. Part of me will be relieved to no longer have to hear Lawrenson being patronising about us... Just want us to put up a bit of a fight, which we showed yesterday.

Very poor performance from Oldham today as Carlisle deserve they victory. On Thursday it rumours that Oldham players and staff haven't been payed for September and after this performance I think that was on players mine.

Nairn County 4 Fort William 0.

Is this continued progress?

I spent the afternoon watching Hibs put six past Hamilton. The SPL looks like it might actually be a competition this season.

I don't tend to take much notice of Scottish football but I've just glanced at the Prem table and was shocked. What has happened to Celtic?

Liverpool 0-0 Manchester City.

Another game where we've wasted chances to score, but at least Mahrez's terrific penalty kick meant both sides ended up with a point.

A draw was probably a fair result, to be honest.
