I was travelling from manchester picc to newcastle back in july but on the day in question there was massive disruption in yorkshire then due to lightning strikes. So i managed to get to newcastle via carlisle in the end over 2 late. Once i got home i submitted a claim by post, waited the 20 days, then nothing. Contacted them and they said i had to send them a confirmation email about the price of the ticket since the company that they use to scan all their post didnt scan it properly and the price wasnt “clear” even though it was clear on the ticket so i got back in touch and hopefully i should soon get a refund after 2 months. Has anyone got a similar story about tpe or other toc’s?

I submitted a claim last week only to receive an email the following day saying their records showed the train to be on schedule - it was actually cancelled at Huddersfield! The value is only about £4.50 so I'm not bothering chasing up but I suspect it has a lot to do with First, they don't seem to get much right unfortunately

I remember once with central trains who said that my regular train service which got cancelled one day for unknow reasons didnt exist even though i had been getting it every weekday, so i wrote directly to richard brown the md of central trains and got a refund and apology.

TPE are months behind on some claims. Write to the MD is my suggestion.

They’re still quicker than Northern. I submitted 1 TPE and 2 Northern claims on the same day back in June. I think the TPE claim took longer than the stated length of time, and they sent me a cheque when I asked for RTVs, but they still compensated me a good 3 weeks before Northern.

I submitted a claim with Northern in early August, and wasn't expecting anything back as was travelling on an MCard but the train became delayed en route so thought I'd chance it, asking for compensation in the form of the Northern journey voucher. To my surprise 3 weeks later I received an email advising they were sending out the voucher in the post, and when it arrived I discovered it was for a return!

Similar here. I did not hear from TPE and when I contacted them they said the ticket scan I had attached could not be read, but without any further explanation (and certainly no proactive action on their part to request it again).

I resent it and eventually got 100% compensation, rather than the 50% I expected. Again no explanation, but I took it as deliberate to compensate for the inefficiency in dealing with may claim - it could, of course, have been a cock up !

Took me 5 and a half months for my last claim. Had the cheque sent to the wrong address, spelt my last name incorrectly so I couldn't cash it. When they finally sent the cheque to my address, they had issued me 3x as much compensation, and still got my address wrong. It's a wonder the postie got it to the correct address!

Lots of chasing up unfortunately and lots of empty promises. I wouldn't have bothered, but for £65.70, that's a lot to me...

TPE’s Twitter team and call centre are, in my experience, excellent at sorting out things which haven’t haven’t been resolved by email.

I’ve not once come away disappointed after having chased something up - even if it took several months.

You may wish to contact them through these channels additionally.

They do have quite a backlog.
