Given this has got to one of the biggest track re-instatements going on at present I'm surprised there's not been more news posted on here in recent weeks as it's all getting rather interesting and the blockade to join up the final bits only a week away. There are some great pictures on the great western coffee shop and videos of the whole journey north and south bound from a couple of weeks ago. The fourth platform at Filton is making great progress and there is track over the new Stapleton road bridge. Hopefully some of the locals will provide updates on here during the blockade.
3973ExL and Shaun Emmett posted some great ones early summer, perhaps we can persuade them to get out with their cameras again?? :)

I am ancient enough to have caught the four-track section on my first ever rail trip to Bristol for the Open Day at Bath Road Depot in 1969. It would be great to see update photos and the finished project later...…...

Have taken loads of pics, but even if I set camera to smallest pixel size the files are still too large to upload on here directly from phone. Amending on a computer a huge palaver, but will try to upload a few more later in the week.

Thanks Sean! I really appreciate you taking time to take and share such photographs, and many others who do the same for other threads on this forum. Being mostly housebound and unable to travel very far, it does keep me in touch with what's going on currently on the railways….. :)

Echoed Sean! I am sure that many of us would appreciate that. I am intrigued as to whether enough space has been left for an intermediate station between Filton Abbey Wood and the future Ashley Hill.

I wasn't aware of that, apologies.

I shall do in future, I'll try and get some pictures myself over the next few weeks too.
I don't care how you did it - just most grateful! The last one recalls just what a big station Stapleton Road was, in the days when trains from Wales to Brighton called there to avoid reversal.

So -what do we get at the end of this blockade? Two operational tracks but now on one side of the formation I'd guess, with the other pair to be completed after the blockade? Or something more complicated?

Read elsewhere it’s supposed to be operational with four platforms in use at Filton Abbey Wood immediately after the blockade. However apparently there’s been a warning that the PIS displays are not expected to be working initially. RTT seems to show four tracks in use on Filton Bank from the December timetable change.

Thanks. Seems like fast work to get all four lines operational including all signalling etc. - impressive (if it all works!).

Not much going on at Narroways. There's a short engineering train (without locos) parked at the start of the Severn Beach branch.

More work going on in the Constable Road area. The temporarily laid track for the new down relief has been taken up, as has the up main, in preparation for the new crossover.

Struggling to upload pics.

If that’s the train in your recent photo, might it be the support vehicles for a Kirov crane? (Eg the yellow container.) They sometimes park them up out the way while the crane is doing it’s stuff elsewhere.

Had a wander down Filton Bank today to check out progress. Various normal and telephoto shots to follow, starting at Filton Abbey Wood, looking North then South.

From Constable Road 3m 29c looking North then South, showing change since yesterday!

Looks like the steel sleepers installed a decade ago have been replaced.

Ok thx for the thx.

Main disappointment was that I couldn't get pic near the Ashley Hill footbridge (3m 11c) from West side, just North of where the tracks (used to) swap from one side of the formation to the other. Will try from East side next week.

So picking up where I left off, here's another view from this morning looking North from Narroways footbridge (3m 11c) then South. Engineers train has lost a wagon or two since Saturday!
