Pleased to meet you.Apart from Merseytravel 142s, I've never met anyone who likes those!
You must be a masochist!Pleased to meet you.

The refurbished interiors are pretty impressive indeed for the 180s. Grand Central have done a really good job.
Personally, it's a shame about the seat headrest height/position however, as anyone above 5ft is constantly pushed forward in the upper back area. You get used to it within an hour though. It would have been better for a smaller winged style headrest at the very top rather than this bump. But for me that's the only downside.
Yeah they are at least half way now in fact there can’t be many more left to do
I travelled from London to Halifax yesterday on a refurbished set and I can confirm that even though I'm not as tall as you the wings dug painfully into my shoulders. The only way to avoid that was to slouch down so that my shoulders came below the huge seat wings, but this caused me back pain and slouching like that is hardly reccomended. You cannot easily sit upright with a straight spine away from the seat back completely to avoid the wings because of the contoured seat base - it isn't flat. Not another train I can't use. This kind of design stupidity went out with the old "winged" Mk2 seat but seems to be making a return.
How the hell are you supposed to straighten your back on that? Even if you were short the shape of it is horrendous.I travelled from London to Halifax yesterday on a refurbished set and I can confirm that even though I'm not as tall as you the wings dug painfully into my shoulders. I'm really disappointed because everything else about the train is quite good. Quick, clean, nice colours, good facilities including sockets and useble free WiFi. The staff on the train and through their customer services whom I contacted in advance to request a seat reservation were great and value for money was about in line with my expectations. So basically everything about my trip was either good or very good and I'd be a happy customer who wants to use them again... if it weren't for those seat wings. I would suggest this isn't a subjective issue either, as ones shoulders should not be bumped by hard lumps. In three hours I couldn't find any comfortable position to sit in and believe me I tried almost everything!
Yeah but look at their logo.I assume it's meant to represent GC's house colours but it looks like something Dorien from Birds Of A Feather would wear!
