Hi everyone,

This morning I took the train from Belper to St Austell to buy a car. I then drove back to Derbyshire, setting off at 15.00 and getting home just after 20.15. I also had a 30 minute motorway service stop on the way home. However by train I caught the 07.02 from Belper and didn't arrive into St Austell until 14.08! Can anyone please tell me why my train went via Swindon instead of going via Bristol Parkway? I only ask because on the face of it this is absolute madness!

Many thanks,

Angela.

The line is closed between Bristol Parkway and Temple Meads for widening to four tracks.

Did you by any chance take the 0702 Belper to Derby, then the 0727 Derby to Exeter, and then the 1208 Exeter to St Austell?

If so, that sounds like a lovely journey!

Indeed I did Dan! And yes it was a lovely journey, especially the bit between Exeter and Newton Abbot. It also helped that the weather was beautiful.

I concur that it is a long way to travel to buy a car but I can be very picky when it comes to parting with large chunks of money!

And yes I'm very pleased with my purchase thank you. Are you buying a brand new car?
