Hi,

Noticed what looked like a third rail at Glasgow central - platform two last night, it didn’t seem to be electric (no insulating pots that I could see) and I know of no NR DC stock running in Scotland anyway.

So, anyone know what it is?

Alas I didn’t get a picture as I was in a rush.

Are you sure it wasn’t just a piece of new/replaced rail that has been positioned next to the track awaiting removal/fitting?

Possible yes I did think that at first but it looked almost too neat if you see what I mean.

Was it on a bridge or curve? Could be a check rail?

Hi, it's a new rail. Had a look at it today and it's not attached to anything. They've laid it very neatly in all fairness!

Looks like it, it's placed perfectly to replace the platform 2 rail adjacent to the 6ft between platforms 2 and 3

Thanks all, it was the neatness that threw me I think as I didn’t study it for too long.
