Interesting incident at Leuchars on 1B07 today. Was already 7 down on arrival.
Anyone who knows the layout will know HST stop board is at the far end of the platform, meaning the main pax stairs onto the platforms at the north end.
Guard has walked the platform, confirmed doors closed and was away to step back into open guards door after whistling the service good to go (or had just done so, can't remember) when a late passenger attempted to step into the door to board.

The guard correctly invited him to step down and then explained via the drop light presumably that this was not a customer door.

Customer certainly wasn't impressed, and unless I've missed it can't see any mention in the Classic intro video that Guards door = no admittance.
Daresay travelers, including myself, have been used to diving in unit doors at last minute.

Well there's one in service so make that what you will.

Answers on a postcard, please...!

I think Scotrail/NR have committed to more track cleaning (whatever that actually means in practise, I don't know) & fitment of GPS sensors to toilets in the New Year (to prevent flushing in areas such as stations).

A Scotrail HST just passed my house! This was an unexpected surprise as I live in the Southside of Glasgow.

Seems a bit extreme to fit GPS sensors. I think (though I'll have to check with a source) that at one point FGW were considering / trialled / did fit a toilet flush inhibit system which was done by linking in to the CDL cabling. So if the doors were released then the toilet wouldn't flush.

That would just result in people leaving it unflushed. And it wouldn't prevent flushing in a station.

Believe there was a move earlier from Broadies, Kilmarnock to Perth or Dundee

There is one later in opposite direction

Thanks to Scot-rail group

Not sure if it has anything to do with the agreement of running the "classic" HSTs however the one I was on today had half of the toilets locked out, leaving 1 per coach which is more than reasonable. However, about 40 minutes before my journey ended there was none available atall which wasnt ideal, hope there isnt the same issues when they are all refurbished.

What are the interiors like on the classic HSTs? Is there a full coach of first class running?

There are seven settlements that are officially recognised as Cities in Scotland- Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. The Inter7city services connect these (though none of the five routes from Edinburgh to Glasgow is included in Inter7city)
Five routes from Edinburgh to Glasgow? Four are obvious, what is the fifth?

If you haven't been on a train outside Scotland in the last 20 years and haven't travelled on the Fife Circle LHCS peak service or an East Coast HST (which I assume are still all slam door), then would you have experience of leaning outside a window to open the door?
Or in Wales where we have Mk 3 LHCS doing a diagram along the North coast, and one daily between Cardiff and Holyhead on the Premier Service, aka Gerald

It's definitely valid, though I think every time I've done it I've had the guard check I knew where the train was going and the fact it's a silly route! (Though this was always on Grahamston terminators, and always because I was stopping off in Falkirk on the way.)

Last month the guard said it wasn't valid . He let me off with it but id checked on here before and knew it was.

First class interior of the classic ScotRail HST sets, if anyone was curious to see.

Make the most of it:- the last of the truly comfortable trains - next up the Dire DFT specified IETs
I think most passengers on the GWR far west routes would be overjoyed to swap our new IETs for the Old HST's you have been blessed with

As others have answered, number 5 is Queen Stret-Edinburgh via Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston from December.

I'm suprised this would run as an HST service - entirely under the wires (I take it Cumbernauld to Grahamston through Greenhill Lower Jn is wired now)?

Some of the Scotrail folk that received HST training at Laira said as much - the GWR folk didn't really want to lose their HSTs
