My colleague is delayed in Salzburg heading to Munich. As he says himself he can barely speak English let alone German. Any ideas as to what's happening. He suspects a point failure of some sort.

TIA.

DB arrivals at Munich Hbf for RJX66 due 2031 from Budapest said points failure, 30 min delay (but it has arrived now). The OEBB site, as AlexNL says, refers to OHL problems near the Hungarian border.

Next time tell your colleague to use Google Translate, but he has no problem to order a beer. What is his main language than? Did you know that 65 % know no foreign language in the UK.

Ordering beer is usually easy: Beer, Bier, Biere, Ol, Pivo, Piwo, Cervesa, Cerveja or just point and use your fingers to denote how many

Fine if you are happy with the local lager but not if you want something a bit more interesting.

What is his main language then?

Pure Musselberry - an archaic dialect of low Scots from East Lothian.

TBF he has no problems in ordering beer - just in physically putting his hand in his wallet to pay for it. No amount of language skills will help that unfortunately.

Maybe that person has problems talking to others in the UK with that accent. But surely you get proper education to talk English in the UK.
