I hopefully will be informed whether I passed the interview for Cardiff tomorrow... *fingers crossed*. I was told I should hear by the 17th. Has anyone else on here gone for it?

Can anyone advise whether you normally get informed by email or a phone call for Cardiff ROC?

Thanks :)

Hi there Steo91, my first post on here but been reading this thread for the last few weeks.

I’m in the same boat as you & wish you all the best!

I applied / had interview for Carmarthen post & had an e-mail reply back (I’m internal) saying unsuccessful.

In my experience phone call is good, e-mail is bad lol, good luck

I have phones several times they just keep telling me to wait another week
NR HR are the notoriously slow with these things, the time of year will likely not be helping either. I wouldn't worry yourself at all. Just enjoy your xmas knowing you've got a nice new career. And congrats

Got my interview tomorrow for a grade 7 position, any last minute advice?

Make sure you learn lots of examples to use based on the non technical skills in a competency based style... Research about NR and lots about safety and what it means to them.
Smile... And look smart! :)

Cheers for the reply mate, that's exactly what I've prepared for. Glad to know I'm on the right page.

Can anyone tell if the pay deal for next year has been announced. I can only find the 2018 pay matrix on the thread.
If not does anyone know what the payclaim is for 2,3,4,5%???

Thanks for that. Dont suppose you know what has been ask for by the union?

Negotiations are ongoing, and I doubt anyone on here knows for definite what will happen.

I'd be fairly certain it wouldn't be less than at least 2% on the 2018 figure.

Yes, and the RPI at the end of last year was 3.9/4% - most TOCs (and indeed NR) base their pay negotiations around RPI as a major factor.

The initial 2019/2020 pay offer for bands 5-8, signallers and controllers was for a flat 2% not linked to RPI with a potential increase connected with as yet undefined and ominous sounding “productivity initiatives”. The company refused to continue the current no compulsory redundancies agreement. Unsurprisingly the offer has been rejected by the TUs and talks continue.

The two jobs are at Penzance SB and Par SB, both 24/7 SB and secure as you can be down in Cornwall.

Both are traditional SB buildings, Penzance has a NX Panel replacing its levers and Par has a frame and I think a small recently installed NX panel.

Rosters I think are a mix of 8hrs Mon-Fri with 12hrs over the weekend, both Grade 4 jobs.

There is a internal job at Plymouth panel at the moment, the 2nd time in about 5 months so there is always room to move if you wish.

The Cornish SB do it seems struggle to recruit so your previous RN service might well sever you well if you can sell it the right way once the app.

Vacancy at Penzance is initially advertised as a secondment from information I have.

Regards rosters the boxes from Par westwards will go onto a 12 hour shift pattern from January initially on a 3 month trial period.

I have just received confirmation of a start date of 11/02/2019 to complete admin and visit the box. I will be attending Westwood for training school on 25/02/2019.

Can anyone clarify where Westwood is located.

Nicely done!

Still waiting here but nevermind. Sadly my manager wants me gone and has breeched confidentiality by telling people I'm leaving in my current employment after I politely told him that he'd be asked for a reference. A reference they never ended up asking for. Just nice to know I'm going at some point!

The rejected pay deal was a two year offer of 2% each year.

Apparently a meeting will take place mid January with the company tabling a new offer.

I’ve heard rumours that there was an suggestion that the current 4% Relief be increased to 10% and that it was costed by the company at £7m so who knows...
