Anyone travelling from Marylebone on the Main Line this afternoon/evening likely to encounter serious delays.

Broken rail on the Down line at Sudbury Hill Harrow:

@NetworkRailCML A broken rail near Sudbury Hill - unusually broken in two places - is causing disruption to @chilternrailway's customers' journeys. The cause is unknown but we are doing all we can to repair it as quickly as possible. Check @nationalrailenq for the latest travel info.

Some Birmingham bound trains being sent via the LUL line to Aylesbury, back down the single to Princes Risborough before resuming normal paths.

Is it me or do others not understand "clamping" in the context used?
The use of some special fish plates to hold the 2 cracked piece together that are clamped with what are similar to 4 G Glamps.

In this case the there are 2 breaks too close together, one break is very near the clip /sleeper (unusual location so clmap may not fit) and the main break has significant contact surface damage so unlikely to be clampable for 3 reasons.

It was discovered after a track curcuit failure after passage of 1R25 and then a break confirmed by a driver (2A25) on opposite line.

Both 1R25 and 2A25 would have been travelling on the down line, so basically 2A25 would have been travelling at caution looking out for anything causing the track circuits to have been showing as occupied

Demonstrating one of the major flaws of axle counters there....
On an electrified railway even with Track Circuits only one rail may detect the break. The other being used for the traction return. Sod's law means it will be that one which breaks. The fact a TC may fail if a break occurs is a 'nice' by product.

And the route to Paddington is closed!

Did anymore services go to West Ealing bay I suppose?
