We seem to have encountered an impasse.

The answer is quite obvious, it just requires a bit of thinking (and speaking!) ;)

Nevertheless, I shall offer another clue:

This station is within a 30 minute journey radius of Glasgow.

A deceased (extinct) human is kept in a coffin (long box).

With "across the pond" being a term for the United States, think of 'coffin' being said in an American accent. It'd sound similar to Carfin, so that's the correct answer! :)
That was a bit of a puzzler, and I confess that I had to look at a map for the answer. Anyhow...
