I'm guessing the destination is entered "manually" (once) whereas the calling points are from the "standard" CIS database like Manchester Picc, Birmingham Intl etc
It's probably just the code that is on the side panel in the cab that lists the destination which is what the guard/driver have selected, Manchester Picc is used so the destination screen does not scroll.
It takes the guard to open up the document with all the CIS codes in, find the right one for the service and then put it into the system. Only then will the CIS properly function.
Oh and don't forget to make sure that the unit that you have got doesn't have a non refurbished unit attached to it as you won't get the full experience then either as it interferes with the brakes (or something along those lines)

Some 156s now can have PIS activated through typing the headcode in. The display inside the saloon interior will then show the calling pattern and arrival times. If the train is running late it will amend them accordingly.

Just passed Neville hill depot on the 1043 to York and to my surprised on the eastbound side of the depot right at the back there was a 333 in the new northern livery, it really suits the 333s no photo at the moment but will try to get one on the way back

Prob refreshed 333 001 which must be near ready to return to return to service. Supposed to be just 3 weeks of job last December.

Slowly getting there then.
I know a few weeks ago the system was updates to show that you could change at certain stations for other services (TPE for instance) but also Metrolink lines.

The PIS most certainly does not interfere with the brakes, in any fashion whatsoever, whether refurbished or not.
I think what you are trying to refer to is when the auto announcements from a unit with PIS are relayed to a coupled non-refurbished unit, there are some electronics missing which would allow volume control. Hence, it plays at full volume in the non-refurb carriage/s. Something similar occurs with the cab-to-cab comms too IIRC.

That'll be why the 150 I travelled on the other week announced that you could "change here for TransPennine Express services" at every station between Wigan and Manchester Victoria. But then it also had the alarm in the disabled loo sounding constantly because (according to the guard) nobody could work out how to turn it off). Not the most relaxing journey in the world...

That would have been it then, no sure where I got the issues with the brakes from! :D
I have had it before where there were automated announcements going off in a 153 obviously having come through from the refurbished unit and it was very loud indeed!

We often hear about Newton Heath's mythical wash road, but have Allerton lost use of their washroad too? Some of the 319s are absolutely filthy out there. To be fair there's one or two of our 390s looking a bit grubby in white if they miss their regular trip through a wash road, but AC units normally stay quite clean.

Had that the other week - someone sat down, was almost deafened by the announcement in the 153 and got up and moved to the adjoining unit.

I've counted 94 for PRM work and soon as the bolton line is mostly EMU operated they might send more units for the mods and keep the pacers as back up and plus most of the CAFs should be in service before the end of the year.

My count didnt include units already in works.
I'm beginning to wonder if electrics will ever run on the Bolton line and if Northern will ever not be short of working units however many they are given.

i was the counting the units that have not been for PRM mods and since the 323s are staying i counted them as well.
There should be testing on the 11th feb but that discussion is for the Blackpool - manchester leccy thread.

170477 arrived at Crewe today after working down from Neville Hill for refurb.
158849 was also sitting in the shed looking almost ready to come out.

I haven't heard that 333 001 is in service yet. Supposed to be around 3 weeks work so all must not be well.

Wasn't it having some corrosion work done, around the doors I believe? It wouldn't surprise me if there were problems, these units have been worked pretty intensively since their introduction so have spent a lot of time running in all sorts of Yorkshire weather for close to 20 years now.

Surely they wouldn't do corrosion work after a repaint - or would they?
