I wouldn’t be surprised if Arriva win the next East Midlands Franchise or CrossCountry - order new Bombardier 125MPH units and then tag on a few more for Grand Central.

Order trains from Bombardier? Do they want to wait ages for trains that won't catch fire but will be full of software bugs instead?

I always wonder if the 180s would be better on more local work or semi-fasts rather than Intercity, high-speed work? Or would this make things worse?
I think the 180s are probably better semi-fast on routes that aren’t run to capacity.

In reality, I think they should probably either be re-built (below the floor) or scrapped. It’s a shame as for a relatively new train, passenger comfort is very good.

I travelled on a 180 from Bradford Interchange on Feb 3 to Kings Cross. We arrived on time. I was surprised to see two 180s waiting at Bradford, I don’t know if that is a rare thing. I had not been on a 180 for a few years. I was in coach E and noticed the coach “wobbled” quite a lot when stationery caused by the engine. The ride south of Doncaster in places was rougher than I am used to in an HST or Mark 4 on the same route. The toilet seemed temperamental

no end in sight for the 180 as of yet, look out for 10 car sets in the not too distant future!

Summer will come and they will have to think about replacing them, they dont like the summer.

That is normal on a Sunday as there is two Grand Central services from Bradford towards London an hour apart, one unit arrives from London and the other arrives earlier in the day from Crofton depot [or stables overnight at Bradford]
