Thanks - but I think that Martinsh was closer (I actually meant it was the wettest place). I have question waiting though if Martinsh doesn't mind

I don't know, but I'm pretty certain it is somewhere in the Andes, as although Everest is taller there aren't many villages that high up (I may be wrong there though)
just out of interest as I have been lucky enough to visit a few places in the Andes. Calama is at 2260m. Sucre in Bolivia is 2810m. Arequipa in Peru is 2335m. Cusco in Peru is 3399m. La Paz in Bolivia is 3640m. Potosi in Bolivia is 4067m. El Alto in Bolivia is 4150m. They are all pretty big cities as well. It is mad to think how high up you are.

Ok in Martinsh's absence, I'll dive in if I may - I live near and travel quite often on the A34 in Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Hampshire, but where would I see signage for the M34? (some element of lateral thinking may be required)

Is this a fictional motorway in a TV series? I'm thinking it may be Casualty.

Ok - time for a bit of a clue. I see this travelling on the A34 - do not assume that it is only myself travelling, the signage could be travelling too (and no I am not driving under the influence )

Nope - I rarely use a satnav on the A34 (sadly I know this road all to well). Another clue - you could see this signage on certain roads elsewhere (unfortunately if I gave details of which route it might just give things away too easily), it is just that the juxtaposition between that A34 and M34 that often strikes me as strange (and I don't doubt there are other examples on different routes of other "wrong" numbers)

That will be the one - I kept seeing these coaches approaching on the other carriageway and out of the corner of my eye saw "M34" and thought it was a destination. Mr Challenge - your stage coach, pardner

In which humorous series of children's books (fiction), do the following apply to the hero?

He is so exceedingly learned that (approximate figures) he speaks 253 languages; for 27 of which, he is the only person in the world who speaks them.

He lives in the village or town of Great Pagwell; which has many neighbouring communities whose names are variants on "Pagwell" -- a bit like the Roding villages in Essex.

His best friend is a retired military man, with whom he experiences many journeys and adventures; in one story, the two of them visit the Latin American land of Squigglitania, and get caught up in a revolution there.

Professor Branestawn !

That's him -- the (many) books of his adventures, by Norman Hunter. I only ever read a few of them, but as a kid, loved those few.

Your crazy invention to try to introduce to the world...

I think Z could be used by an African country but O could be confused with a zero ,,so my six guesses would be X, Y, O, I, V, U, and a punt at T in case it get confused with a Y. oops that was seven!

This is like trying to guess the winning lottery numbers.
