I got thinking what is the best and worse European legacy carriers in terms of service short haul (eg food and drink) as I have only flown KLM and BA. Do others still continue to offer freebies onboard or have they followed suit with BA?

Flew around France with AF (& Hop / partners) recently... AF mainline's offering on a similar length flight to KLM was poor. Hop flights seemed to be a snack (biscuits/cake) & drink. I'm silver with BA so have lounge access etc on the odd occasions I fly anywhere, but obviously they have only have buy on board in Economy (short haul) these days.

What's SAS like?
I might be flying with them at the beginning of June

Geordie back from exile.
Over the years I've flown BA, KLM and Air France. I'd rate KLM first, BA second and Air France 5th. I've never flown enough European legacies to declare a 3rd or 4th place but any others have got to be better than Air France.

Yes, a tiny cup of lukewarm liquid. And no opportunity to buy food onboard. Other than that they seemed decent, if not up to BA’s standard imo.

So I might be going to Stockholm, and I have a choice of BA and SAS from LHR, and DY from LGW.

Probably gonna fly out BA and back on SAS

SAS used to beat BA hands down for on board service, but now they are pulling away in the race to the bottom.
