The 35 was the only bus that Derby City Council subsidised (i think) and they pulled the funding. Most of the route is covered by alternative buses (the Harlequin has picked up most of the Littleover traffic) and the bits that aren't don't produce enough traffic to keep going.

I believe the 17A was originally a Derby tender and they also contributed to the Derbyshire funded 9/A. The 35 had been commercially operated by N&D following what appears to be the complete withdrawal of bus funding by the City authority. Imagine if the City of Nottingham pulled all funding - there would be huge gaps in the network!

I think the Wellglade companies do a good job, but there have been some notable cutbacks in the last few years as well as increases - Mickleover lost its night buses, then evening buses reduced by 50%, Spondon Flyer reduced, etc
I agree with you on that Wellglade have been doing a good job with increases as the hourly villager frequency has helped me in the evenings when I am late back from work. This may have helped with the mickleover halving in frequency later in the evenings as there is still 3 buses a hour along the route. Spondon has only really lost out by 1 bus per hour as the Ilkeston flyer increased its frequency when it was revamped and now they both link to form a 7/8 min headway in the day but yes the locals in spondon are a little worse off than before.

The electric demonstrator has just gone past me on Uttoxeter Road in Mickleover. It looked to be carrying passengers. Anyone know what it is doing?

I've noticed at least two of the lilac 27 Omnidekkas have been debranded internally - 918 and 920. Presumably these are being lined up to be repainted as spares.

Yourbus have withdrawn both the 1 and 1A in Derby from next month, wonder which route(s) will be there next venture, as they will have a large amount of surplus buses...
https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/derby-news/alvaston-bus-service-cancelled-stopped-2564869

According to Nottinghamshire County Council they are also revising the Y5 from the same date. Be interesting to see if any other yourbus changes when Derbyshire update their service changes list.

I see that Kinch have launched contactless on the Derby Skylink, with touch off and fare capping (described as the first contactless touch off implementation in the UK).

There is a picture of a Ticketer machine on their FAQs, Kinch have been using the same INIT machines as Trent Barton so I wonder if they will both switch fully to Ticketer at some point (and what that would mean for the existing Mango cards)

Out of interest, what ticket is the passenger quoted buying that means it will go up more than double?

Yourbus offer a mobile child 28 day ticket in Derby for £22 (possibly available to buy on the bus as well, their website doesn't list other prices).

https://www.mymobiletickets.com/webapp/tickets/YOURBUS

An Arriva Child 28 day ticket that covers Alvaston is £50 - or for £55 there is a 28 day Spectrum ticket, that includes Arriva, Trent, Kinch and Yourbus in Derby.

There are also currently Adult 28 day tickets valid to Alvaston only for £35 but I suspect these won't stay once Yourbus withdraw their services.

As they all have to read ENCTS passes the basic hardware and software must be compatible and presumably Mango is ITSO-compliant so compatible with any ITSO-compliant reader.

Mango isn't ITSO compliant, but the existing machines can read both Mango and ITSO. Looking further on the Kinch website, they are having to replace their equivalent of the Mango card as old cards no longer work on Skylink

Savers were also replaced for those customers using both Kinchbus and Trent Barton services. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a particularly successful transfer with the new Saver tickets not being recognised consistently by Trent Barton ticket machines. Not the best customer service for people who have spent over a thousand pounds on their ticket, not knowing whether it will work or not!

Seen two skylink buses this morning both had Ticketer machines.

I notice that the Notts and Derbys 12/12A,12X are also withdrawn from March

Already mentioned in post #3419.

Marshalls of Sutton on Trent are reducing the Sunday 90 from 31st March. It goes from 6 journeys to 4 with 3 continuing to Fernwood. Nottm dep: 0940, 1140(Newark only), 1440 & 1640. Newark dep: 0850, 1050, 1350(not from Fernwood) & 1550. So the later service is withdrawn and presumably with the 90minute lunch layover in Newark now requires only one driver. A consequence of the new hourly Sunday train service?

Hulleys of Baslow ran a consultation on the 66 Chesterfield-Buxton it is on their twitter feed on the 27th January (https://twitter.com/hulleysofbaslow/status/1089541030335205377).
One suggestion is to extend the 170 every two hours via Hassop to Buxton to save passengers having to change at Baslow. Good to see a small company looking at fresh ideas.

EDIT:
Service 66 some journeys extended to Chesterfield & Royal Hospital from 31st March according to Derbyshire County Council. Hulleys Chesterfield local 78 revised from same date. New 9am journey from Sheffield on Saturdays on the 273 to Derwent & Castleton.

It certainly is good to see Hulleys giving it their all with the 66 an extention to the 170 seems a really good idea, I hope it comes to fruition. As you noted, Hulleys are a small company and I am not sure if they could achieve it but I would go one step further and introduce a Summer only timetable where the 170 would be Chesterfield - Buxton hourly, with a bit of good weather the TP and 170 are already really busy with many passengers using Bakewell as an interchange.

I'm curious about an item in DCC's 'forthcoming list of changes' :

From 3rd March, Service 441 (National Express) will no longer serve Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock or Belper.

So will a London service still be extended to/from Manchester by a different route or will the one Manchester journey be withdrawn completely?

441 operates via Stoke-on-Trent instead from 3rd March, with broadly similar times as present - https://bustimes.org/services/441-london-manchester?date=2019-03-04

The 441 will now operate via Manchester Airport and Hanley Bus Station (Stoke) then normal route from Derby.

It will leave Manchester 10 minutes later and arrive 5 minutes earlier. No changes to times after Derby

West Bridgford Wire have detailed the proposed C4TN service cuts which are to be approved (or not) on Monday
https://westbridgfordwire.com/propo...-vulnerable-members-of-nottinghams-community/

Total withdrawals:
  • L3: QMC – Billborough – Strelley (replaced with a diverted L2 journey)
  • L7: Charlbury Road (replaced by ‘some L5 journeys’)
  • L22/23 Clifton – Silverdale – Ruddington – West Bridgford – Gamston Circular (CT4N already informed this will cease Saturday 1 June 2019)
  • W1 City – Lenton Lane Industrial Estate
  • W2 City – Crossgate Drive
Reduced frequencies:
  • L1 Silverdale – Wilford – City
  • L2 City – QMC – Glaisdale Parkway – Nottingham Business Park (with a diversion to compensate the withdrawal of L3)
  • L4: Radford – Beechdale – Aspley
  • L9: City – Mapperley – Sherwood – Arnold
  • L11: Arnold – Bulwell – Bilborough – Beeston (shortening of service)
Route changes/merging:
  • L5 – Wollaton Park Estate – Castle Marina – City (route change)
  • L6 & L14 (to merge to extend the L14 service)
  • L6: Bulwell Hall
  • L14: City – Hyson Green – Bulwell

Every 10 minutes Belper - Derby is pretty impressive for a semi-rural route
It is impressive but the demand is there for the Sixes. For almost every bus out of Derby (certainly between 1500 and 1700) there can be a around 25-35 people waiting on the stand.

And when I have travelled towards Derby around 3pm the buses are still very busy so guess they must be packed heading into Derby in the mornings. I also find the Ripley Belper section busy when I've used it. Be interesting to see if the 20minute frequency over the section is warranted. As they are proposing running the 6.1-5 each hourly(5 departures) presumably the 6th departure will be working a Derby-Belper Town Centre only every hour?
