One thing I have noticed is that service 31 is almost entirely comprised today of buses in the 351-380 fleet range. It's not unusual for the 31 to get some but not that many. None of these buses are operating on the 16 today and normally several can be found here. Might be nothing in it of course as it is just one day but I am wondering if this was in preparation for the new buses starting.
That could well be actually. Mind you the 31 was mostly 351-380 before 301-310 moved to Central, and now they have been repainted it's back to 351-380, with Gemini Ones on weekdays of course.

An unusual working on service 45 today. Bus 447 (B5TL) from Longstone operating on it. Not sure if Longstone normally do a journey but certainly not normal to see a B5TL on this service.

Didn’t Longstone use to run the Riccarton to North Bridge run?

Could have been due to a breakdown? Usually they'll send a spare bus from the nearest depot, if it was out Riccarton way it would be Longstone.
Possibly yes. I assume it would still be a Marine driver unless they had someone from Longstone familiar with the route.

The beasts are finally in service, two months after they originally said they'd enter service.

Lets see how they do in their first few weeks, hopefully without too many scratches.

Considering their poor torque output and undersized engine i question the term "beasts"... Anyhoo. Lets hope they enter service smoothly.

I know :P, i was just being nit-picky.
P.S, given that the 12t B9s have 1050nm which was reduced to the 900nm found in the 11t B5’s, the XLB weighs roughly 2.5t more than a B9 yet has 350nm more torque, based on NM per ton alone the XLB is more or less on equal grunt/weight terms with any other bus lothian has.

That's making me feel quite old. I remember grumbling about them when they were new, and cursing the powers that be for daring to use anything than madder and white! They used to fairly struggle up Liberton Brae (but so did I, so catching one was the lesser of two evils)!

698 hasn't been out for a while now
It was outside Marine this afternoon beside a single decker and two green routemasters
Tracker showed it alongside new buses beside withdrawn Tridents but it was definitely on the wall beside main garage.

For those interested the 19's Saturday PVR is 6 so I'd expect the remaining 5 (684, 697-700) plus 664 to be out, unless they intend on putting some of the regular B9's out too

Thinking about it Tridents that will be used are 684/697-700, 572/664 are possiblilities aswell but others we could see are 650, wich still carries full 3BT Livery/Branding wich is parked in Marine car park. 629 could be aswell as its the only withdrawn Trident as of now to still reatain all of its Branding, its also parked in Marine Car Park. Also the 4 open toppers 217-220 are possibilities aswell.
