It's valid on any operator that the paper equivalent would be valid on. If route "Any Permitted" then that's any TOC.Not so smart.
If I buy a season ticket on Smart Card ,between Glasgow and Edinburgh I can only use it on Scotrail or LNER. But a paper ticket is good for all Companies. Cross Country between Central and Waverley often suits me ,so no Smart Card for me!
And gained the technologyIt was the case, a while ago, that CrossCountry tried to claim that such tickets weren't accepted on their trains because of inadequacy in their technology. This was legally dubious and fortunately they've desisted.
Who did you ask? They were wrong. It's definitely valid and no problems with being accepted.Asked at Waverley last week and on Web site says Scotrail and LNER only
No one has...They cant legally block you from travelling on a certain train on an 'Any Permitted' ticket, just because they dont have the technology go scan it - that's their prerogative, and not your fault.
Travel centre at Waverley .Who did you ask? They were wrong. It's definitely valid and no problems with being accepted.
No one has...
Says it all. It's definitely valid on XC and on board staff have the facility to read it.Travel centre at Waverley .
Not sure what the confusion isThink the confusion arises as it is a Season Ticket,(Monthly)
On the Scotrail website under Season Tickets, What you need to know it states:
Paper Season Tickets are valid on all operators services, Smartcard season Tickets are valid on Scotrail and LNER services.
That is confusing to me!

Smart tickets are valid on Cross Country [XC] services. This is a relatively new development so it may have not been fully briefed out to all relevant parties yet.
They can't unilaterally decide not to accept such tickets. The restrictions applying to a ticket don't vary depending on its medium.Have had two replies from customer relations, only to remain confused by what I am told and differing information on the Scotrail website, however a completly new anomoly has come to light that LNER do not accept daily smartcard tickets, only seasons!
All a bit of a shambles.
