Advice for tracking down lost rail pass

My partner lost her RST pass a couple of weeks ago on a GA train. I have subsequently had an email from RSTL saying her pass is at Liverpool Street “lost and found”.

Unfortunately I am struggling to track it down. I have been in contact with the Excess Baggage company at Liverpool Street who deal with lost luggage but they have no record of it. GA themselves were no help whatsoever, once I managed to speak to a person.

My question to anyone who has ever experienced this is where else could the pass be?

Baggage company say not us. GA say nothing to do with us. But do they have a General Station office? Do Network Rail have a station office given it’s their station? Could it be there?

Any help or advice gratefully accepted before I head on a 2 hour journey to go on a wild goose hunt to try and locate it!

Tried that. Twice. They can’t tell me who informed them it had been found. Other than his name was Hassan. Unbelievable.

What are you expecting them to tell you? All they are doing is passing on a message.

Who at GA did you speak to? If it was just the generic customer service number, it is not surprising they knew nothing about it.

Maybe something like who the finder, Hassan, works for?? To be fair the operatives I spoke to were friendly and tried to help. But they can only work with the information they have.

I spoke to lost property at GA. Why would I speak with another department? Please don’t patronise me.

Unfortunately it looks like the pass is found, but at the same time ‘lost’ in a fragmented system.

Greater Anglia's lost property 'office' is at an industrial unit at Welwyn Garden City (not the station itself, which many incorrectly assume) so it could have been sent there. GA should be able to give details on where it is, opening hours, phone numbers etc.

Not sure you are going to get much more help with this one,

Yes, I discovered this fact yesterday. It seems though that lost property is split between those items found on route to Liverpool Street, and everything else. Liverpool Street items are apparently passed straight on to the Excess Baggage Company (EBC) on platform 10 without being logged by GA, everything else goes to Welwyn.

Many thanks for your help.

The message from RSTL simply said “handed in at lost and found”. However, seeing that EBC don’t have it, and the fact that it is an ‘industry’ pass, I had thought maybe it was being held by a rail company at Liverpool Street. Who knows. I grasping at straws in desperation.

No, so it seems. To be honest it was just on the off chance that there maybe someone on the forum who may have insider ideas, or someone who had a similar experience and had come up good.

I'm surprised no one has suggested the booking office at Liverpool Street. That would have been my first thought for a lost ticket or pass. The phone number is highly unlikely to be publicly available, though.

That would have been my first thought, there or one of the offices for the platform staff.
