Did you have your assessment in Cardiff?
It would be a great relief knowing I don’t have to resit the ones I passed again! But I was advised differently...
No Manchester, it was done by OPC, I suppose now I need to hope more vacancies come up and I’m successful at getting to assessment again within the next 24months I’m just so mad at myself.

Hello folks.

I've had a call today to say there's a course starting on 22nd April for Shrewsbury. Got my medical on 27th March. I passed my assessments in November so hasn't been too long a wait. Hopefully more courses will be announced in the new financial year.

Nothing for me yesterday, so I will either expect a call early next week or take it I am not on that course. I would guess the latter.

Have you had a call for a medical?

Sorry for delay. Yes, I had a medical earlier this week and was told they have a course end of April beginning of May time. After reading ##coops## I would like to think I could make that one, but nothing has been offered yet. Passed the medical.

I know 4/5 others that haven't so don't be too disheartened. I think no news is good news this time round.

Indeed, to the best of my knowledge nobody has heard anything from that process yet. The last few adverts have come with a warning that it may take a while for the sift to take place, so I wouldn't worry too much. I could imagine that both HR and the Driver management team who carry out the sifts are very busy at the moment with all the recruitment and training taking place.

How did you get on?

Unfortunately I failed marginally on two of the tests so didn’t make the multi mogul interview.
The girls were lovely and told me where I went wrong, one of them I already knew what I’d done.
Seeing a recent recruitment advert makes me hopeful for another chance after September when the 6 month wait lapses

Does anyone have a contact telephone number for TFW recruitment team rather than an email address. Or any ideas how i can get hold of them. Thanks

I got told to ring main reception in Cardiff and then ask to be put through to recruitment. It did work eventually after a couple of calls. I ended up ringing as no replies received to messages sent. Let me know if you still need to contact them.

Hi All - first time poster here.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I passed my assessment & MMI today & I got some great tips & advice for all the stages of the application process from this thread!

I only applied on 14th April & by 30th May I’ve passed sift, telephone interview, DMI & assessments! In the talent pool now & looking forward to starting in the future!

Wow that was super quick. Congratulations! I know a few that haven't even heard back after application yet. What depot are you in for?

Congratulations to you. That is fast indeed. I applied for Crewe on 14th April as well. Not heard anything so I reckon I have possibly dipped out then.

I’m still trying to get my head around their recruitment process as no-one (me included) appears to have heard anything regarding Chester posts which were advertised in February.

Well done, what depot are you waiting for?

I am in the pool for Chester, passed my assessment back in November. From what I have heard, recruitment for Crewe/Shrewsbury is their priority at the moment. It is frustrating waiting but I am sure a start date will appear soon!

I know many people who applied for this latest recruitment for Chester and still haven't heard anything so don't be too disheartened, I am not sure they are done with that yet.

Thanks guys - I’m in for Shrewsbury. Certainly was surprised with how quick it all went given the timescales often quoted on this website.

Was my first ever application for any role at any TOC.

I think that the Chester one in Feb (which encompassed every depot in N Wales apart from Holyhead) is in preparation for th increase in services over the first few years of the franchise so it will be a gradual process. I think they wanted to have a large group of applicants ready so they can recruit as and when the expansions occur.

Crewe and Shrewsbury are very short of drivers at the moment. Even with several trainees doing their hours at the moment both depots still need more. Chester had a massive recruitment last year so isn't as desperate. Next course for the North is due to start in July so they need to get candidates picked and put through medicals in time for that.

By 'North' do you mean Crewe, or Chester and the coast?

Sorry, I forgot the definition of North isn't that obvious if you don't work for TfW! In this context, "North" refers to the 3 English depots (Crewe, Chester and Shrewsbury) plus those in North and Mid Wales (Holyhead, Llandudno Junction, Machynlleth and Pwlheli). They don't always run separate North and South courses (I myself was trained in Cardiff despite being based in the North) but lately there have been enough trainees to keep the courses separate.

Thanks Craig. Do you know what depots will be on the July course?

Not yet no sorry. Should be several for Crewe (2 of whom are conductors who've been waiting to get released from their current role) but I don't know for definite about other depots at present.

No worries, thanks. I am sitting tight for Chester at the moment.
Are you on for both Holyhead and Chester, seen your earlier comment about being in for Holyhead aswell. I'm in for Holyhead since November but heard Nothing back, thinking might call up again see if any updates.

Yeah, I originally applied for Holyhead, but I have since told them I am happy to take Chester, which I think is more likely. So that is what I am expecting. Whichever comes first I suppose. November 19th I passed my assessment.
