A 10.2m Enviro 200 and the Commander have re-entered service at Adderley Green.

They were in okay nick a few weeks ago when I was on an arranged trip - laughable how they've got the ex-Fishwicks/Routemaster vehicles sat doing naff all. Route branding for the 82, however, is quite exciting! I am also not massively surprised about the inter-working on the 88 - it shouldn't have a massively high PVR you think.

I've not seen it but I think it's just a strip across the top like DG64 BUS used to have for the 32 route, opposed to the bus having a special colour livery like some of the Staffordshire routes get.

Probably the biggest investment in a route since the 38 went Sapphire! (Sarcasm) Better than nothing, and D&G do like a bit of branded routes every now and then as you suggest.

Well they're still using the tiny Solo's with the rock hard seats on the 88 instead of the specified large Solo's.

Not sure which bus ran the early Altrincham bound service this morning (which now goes on to the 288 afterwards instead of an 88 service back) but I've seen all 3 x ex-Go Goodwins Solos in the 88 today and another Solo 880 (not sure exactly which vehicle it was) so unless they're servicing the Streetlites during the school holidays they've gone to 4 x 28 seaters instead of 2 x 28 seaters and 2 x 33 seaters.

Saw an ex-Go Goodwins Solo on the 12:45 Macclesfield to Altrincham today, almost all seats occupied and passengers looking so miserable you'd be mistaken for thinking it's taking people to prison.

Yes. Personally I think it's underrated - for a town the size of Altrincham the range of shops is reasonable, the problem is there's too many retail units and some of them need converting in to something else, they've partly addressed the problem by replacing smaller shops with a smaller number of larger shops which attracted retailers like Debenhams, H&M and Next in to the town. The biggest problem I've noticed is how infrequently Trafford Council empty the litter bins.

Altrincham is too close to the Trafford Centre to be a major retail outlet. I am expecting M&S, Debenhams and Rackhams all to close within 2-3 years - Rackhams (HoF) is due to close in January 2019.

If a post on another forum is to be believed the 130 route is no longer Sapphire and will now be operated by 35 seater Solos. (35 seater Solos hint hint D&G Bus ;))

There was a Park & Ride shuttle for the Knutsford Christmas Markets operating last weekend operated by a 66 reg Enviro 400 belonging to Go Goodwins. It made the D&G vehicles on the 88 and 89 services look a bit old and basic.

Warrington's Own Buses have confirmed the 47 will operate as normal on 24th Dec and 31st Dec, when they will be running a Saturday service on other routes. (The 47 doesn't have a Saturday service.) Even the driver working the 47 today wasn't sure if the 47 will run on those dates.

According to the DG Bus website some new Sunday services are being introduced from 7th April

1, 2 and 4 from Northwich to Weaverham, Rudheath and Barnton

15A Chester-Blacon-Saughill

41B from Wrexham General Station to HMP Berwyn

Does anyone have any further information about these services e.g. are they replacements for existing routes, supplementing journeys on exising routes or are they brand new services?

Also given they are being run from the Crewe depot would there be any logic in DG Bus running a Crewe-Chester service to interwork with the 15A? Surely there must be some dead mileage there?

I'm local to Northwich and I belive the Northwich services are being taken over from Arriva, as the tender was up and D&G but a bid in.

I'm surprised the new D&G Sunday Northwich services aren't being run from Wincham, as it would reduce dead mileage.

Wincham is a small depot and probably doesn't have enough drivers to cover the work. The extra time taken to run in service Crewe to Chester would bugger up drivers hours, and not bring in much (or indeed any) revenue, so isn't really worth it, and you are stuck with another service to run if it all goes belly up. This way, Wincham, or even Adderley Green, could cover it in an emergency without the need to get to Crewe first too.

The SEMMMS; A555; Manchester airport eastern link road now seems to be more like a haul road for stone wagons coming out of the Peak district, which is good for Stockport.

Proposed Changes to 88 & 288 by TFGM

According to the latest repor from TFGM. Service 88 is to introduce a new evening and sunday service betweeen Altrincham and Wilmslow on a trail period - Funding to come from recuction to 288 Service

Service 88
In line with the reduction of service 288 journeys between Altrincham and Manchester Airport and to retain an hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Hale Barns it is proposed to introduce a new 2-hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Wilmslow for a trial period.
Operated by D&G Bus

Service 288

Due to the introduction of journeys of service 103 between Manchester Airport and West Side Cargo, evening variations on service 288 which currently divert in one directions only to serve West Side Cargo to meet specific shift times are no longer required and are proposed to operate direct via Runger Lane.
The passenger numbers (average of 2.67 per trip) on the retained service do not justify the retention of an hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Manchester Airport and it is proposed to reduce the service to operate every 2 hours, although the first journeys to and last journeys from Manchester Airport are retained as now.
To maintain the hourly service between Altrincham and Hale Barns, alternate journeys are proposed to operate as service 88 between Altrincham and Wilmslow.
Members are asked to approve the withdrawal of the route deviation of the 288 and the reduction of the evening and Sunday service to operate every 2 hours, with effect from 28th April 2019.
As part of a package of negotiated changes involving services 88 and 288 there are no financial implications on the subsidised service budget

It's been rumoured that MCT might take it on but don't know if the contract has been awarded yet or not.

Also arriva have out their fares up again, crewe gets its own day ticket whereas macc lost ours.

I've also heard people say High Peak are going to run the 391/392 but it doesn't seem like the contract has been finalised - CEC updated their website yesterday but still says award in progress.

Yeah they've been taken over by MCT yesterday, with their fleet of 3 Enviro 200's (I think, I know nothing about buses)

According to the D&G Bus website they now accept contscgless payment on all their buses.

Do Arriva and First Potteries also offer this or do users of the 38 have to pay by cash if they are traveling on Monday through to Saturday?

The services are being ran from Crewe with Wincham drivers. With Wincham being so small, there aren't enough people willing to work Sundays.
