@Blackpudding Any knowledge on T818LLC? Wondering if it's left the fleet (32818)

I've seen nothing that suggests it has left the fleet 'ClawzOneThirty'. I suspect it is being used for spares to keep the remainder of the Tridents at Bridgwater on the road. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm whether it is still at Bridgwater at some time in the future.

It still shows taxed on DVLA website which is normally a good indication.

You would expect so 'richw' but not in this case. Although Buses of Somerset/Kernow are usually good at delicencing vehicles when withdrawn this one has missed the net. It was withdrawn with, I believe, mechanical failure and Volvo B7TL 30930 was its replacement.

Maybe these days. Several years ago it was always a decker (Cornwall Council stipulation) on that run. Occasionally they ran out of fuel but generally only carried a few people, so drivers would change the decker for a Solo of any variety.
Drivers would get told off for not taking a decker, so for a while a decker would be seen.
Then the Solo's came back in and that cycle resumed.
Very few late evening runs warrant a decker - too much screen reflection from internal lights making driving narrow lanes difficult.
Not enough passengers to warrant a decker anyway.

Yes, that's what I understand, especially with the need to avoid low trees. It does somewhat dilute the U branding though.

Out of interest, how is vehicle allocation done at Kernow? There's a suggestion that drivers can sometimes take any bus they like. Certainly wherever I've worked I'd be straight out of the door if I didn't take the bus that was allocated.

Vehicles allocated every morning for the complete day runout by the depot allocator. Might be changed with breakdowns/late running/incidents, etc. All done so vehicle ends up at the correct service depot at the end of the day ready for a MoT or service, or repairs.

I was going to suggest Winkleigh but aren't they a bit young to be sold off? Could they be going to another First company or are they in too ropey a condition for that?

They’re 16 years old!
Read elsewhere some of the solos and a Barbie liveried Dart have appeared in Yeovil

Your Winkleigh suggestion appears correct, Dan Shears has advertised them for sale this afternoon. £3500.

It would be interesting to know how many miles they have clocked up since new.

I had one recently and it was displaying circa 600,000, but I suspect it’s been round the clock. For comparison I had 33303 today and it’s on around 59000. Approaching it’s first birthday.
These Darts were used from early morning to late night every day at Penzance, the E400MMCs in the majority don’t work evenings, so probably did a higher annual mileage. I’d probably say 1.6 million!

A3 St Ives to Lands End route will start operating from 14th April this year with limited service until Summer timetables commence 26th May. This service has not operated Easter/ early May for a number of years so is very welcome !

It's very welcome indeed. What's also needed is for the limited service to operate at the end of the season at least until early October. Mid September is too early for it finish as there are still plenty of tourists around and the weather is often at its best.

You're right that they've been worked hard. Also given that some of them have never had a repaint I wouldn't be surprised if there's rampant corrosion in parts of the bodywork. On one I went on late last year the bonding between one of the windows and the frame was coming away, which if left for a long period would allow water ingress into the bodywork.
