Hi there, was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes before getting job feedback from Scotrail/Abellio.
I applied for a Gateline CSA at Glasgow Central/Queen Street and the deadline was 16/01/19. I've recieved the generic reply thanking me for applying and my profile page shows my submitted applications (applied for 2 other posts since then).
So question is how long does it take to get an answer whether successful or not.

Cheers

Hi mate,

Please don't quote me as definite on this one but I would say that you've probably been unsuccessful unfortunately. They started interviews for this position during the week just there.

Honestly, I've tried applying for them too, they are absolute dog**** at replying. They never really do. Just do what I do and keep trying. Go for every vacancy you can.

For the gateline positions, you know that you have progressed when they send you some online tests to-do. If you dont receive these online tests then you have been unsuccessful.

Cheers for the replies, still waiting on the unsuccessfui email. Will await the no respnse for the other 2 i've applied for. Luckily i've got a job just now and it was a career change rather than no job and desperate for one.

As I said, I hope that I am wrong but interviews have started and they haven't invited you to complete the online tests which was around 3/4 weeks ago now. This is the step before interviews.

Keep applying mate. I have been trying for years and years myself. Only recently have I gotten past the initial vetting for the first time.

I have noticed with ScotRail, the closer you are to the station the better you chances. That might just be my experiences but I have applied to a few and ones I have been done tests for are less than 30mins away from me. Might be wrong though...

Could be, had an interview about 6 years back and that was for a station about 15 minutes drive and 10 minutes train from my house. Glasgow Central is minimum 28 minutes train and about 45 minutes drive. Used roughly the same answers that got me the interview back then.

Might not be the case now, someone who works as catering out of Queen Street came from Saltcoats, which is about 35 minutes train and about an hours drive.

Still waiting on rejection email from January. Apllied for one (conductor) that ended end of February and part time Station Gateway C.A. that ended 15/03, i'm assuming that all successful candidates have been informed now of both posts.

I’ve went for the apprenticeship post, and I’m wondering if I need to chase it up, then who should I contact for it?

See that they are looking for Ticket Examiners at various stations and one is close to me. Before I apply for this, is the questions the same ones as the ones I previously applied for (conductor/gateline).
cheers.

I applied for a position on Friday and received and email inviting me to sit an online assessment on Monday. Have you had any luck since the original post?

Still not heard back from the apprenticeship one, considering just leaving it. This is the 3rd time I’ve applied and heard nothing back.

E-Mail HR, normally this gets them to look into it and give you an answer...

Nope, still under consideration for the previous jobs. I know I wasn't successful but a wee updatewould have been nice. Will apply for the TE role they are advertising.

Could someone please clear something up for me.
After the wait to hear if you are successful, is the classroom training for 12 weeks?

its 6 weeks in the classroom doing the rules course which split up into 2 weeks blocks with a week of front end cab turns inbetween each 2 week classroom block. Then you move onto a 3 week basic traction course (this depends on depot as to what traction becomes your basic traction), then 2 weeks training train on your basic traction and then you may do a further traction course if you need diesels along with leccy's. After all that is done you go back to your depot and begin your practical train handling with a driving instructor which is approx. minimum 260 hours of driving over a period of 60 days min. After you've reached the required amount of hours and days you'll start the assessment process to get your license. This can take several weeks to get through.
