I completely forgot about that part lol. I assume once that tender is up, LCB will get it.

If they go for the 63 no doubt the 20 will be next? why introduce a fare zone for the west of Edinburgh if two Lothian services run through them with a flat fare of 1.70 anyway?

Only thing is that if the 20/63 were to go to LCB, it would be a pain to run it from Livingston, If the 43 can stay at Central then the 20/63 can stay at Longstone, unless there was some changes to both services that would make it easy to run out of Deans

Well there's going to be another batch after this initial 42 so they may end up at another depot for use on the aforementioned routes!

I hope so. Had the pleasure of going on them a few times. They are fantastic vehicles.
Im more looking forward to the Enviro 400 B5TL's. Anyone got any idea why Lothian dont just buy plain Enviro 400 MMC's? Id like to see a Lothian Enviro 400 MMC with standard ADL specs as they look much nicer aswell as sounding better than a B5

They are looking for a uniform fleet, so everything is to be Volvo Chassis / Engine as far as possible. Its good for maintenance and general competence.

If they were to buy another fleet of vehicles that werent Volvo then its just something new for the engineers to learn on.

Perhaps the experience with the Enviro hybrids left them hesitant to buy more hence they arrived at "well the bodywork has held up okay" when they were experiencing Wright's diminishing build quality on later vehicles?

Pure speculation!

Can anyone please tell me the location(s) of 1067 and 1093, and explain why they aren't on Finlay Smith's Bus Visualiser?

Off the coast of East Africa where buses not yet in service or out of service seem to show up.
Many of the batch were showing here as are 112 and 124

Is there a officially about the next batch of 42 100 seater deckers? Does that include the 12 for the Airlink? Can these buses get around Hopefield?

The trackers for these vehicles are not activated. Weather this is because they arent inservice yet or not we dont know.

I can confirm that the route 7 is using some B8's, as I saw 1088 & 1092 working it today (they must have a helluva job turning corners at the RIE!) Although the 11 terminates at Hyvots Bank, I don't think the B8's turn round there. I've seen 2 B8's with 'Ocean Terminal' on the display heading towards Hyvots Bank from Gilmerton Crossroads. Another time, a B8 was at Hyvots Bank, waiting to go to Ocean Terminal, BUT it was on the street, NOT in the bay. I suspect they are too long to turn round at Hyvots Bank and have to turn round somewhere else. If so, my guess is the old 3 & 8 turning loop at Gilmerton or the Iceland/Lidl car park. I've seen coaches parked there several times.

The new B8Ls do turn at Hyvots Bank they can turn without any problems

A pal of mine swears that he saw one of the XLBs running in service with the rear set of wheels raised. I didn't even know they could do that. Was he imagining it?

Would I be right that they don’t turn like single deckers with triple axles?

They're rigid/fixed tag axles, so no they don't turn at all.

ADL have done this rather useful video which shows the differences between a powered (steering) tag and a rigid/fixed tag.

At 3:00 in the clip you can see the massive improvement in turning radius that a steering tag has over a fixed tag.

Thanks for that.
